Database administrator/analyst job description

The MIL Corporation
seeks a
Database Administration, Senior Analyst (PeopleSoft System Admin)
to support a Federal Government client. Training will be provided on PeopleSoft system architecture, PeopleSoft security, PeopleSoft patching and upgrades, batch processing, PeopleSoft change management and other client specific instructions and requirements.


Responsibilities


Develop system installation/setup/security/configuration specifications through working with team members and the analysis of system needs Plan, define, install, and configure Peoplesoft systems, databases, and procedures including working with the network hardware and software team to define LAN and WAN Network requirements, Workstation Requirements, Server Hardware, and Operating System Requirements Monitor, analyze, tune, and otherwise maintain Peoplesoft system and components like WebLogic, Tuxedo, Process Scheduler, Oracle Database, and Infrastructure Update and monitor Peoplesoft security system based on the demands of the system and data Collaborate with vendors and other team members to develop, evaluate, install, and test software enhancements Install new PeopleSoft environments and refresh non-production PeopleSoft environments Troubleshoot development and production application problems across multiple environments and operating platforms. Assist development and system operations with debugging and tuning the batch cycle, using control-M Work with system operations on determining backup and restore, cloning, patching application, and upgrade schedules Manage application configuration using PHIRE


Required Qualifications


Some basic knowledge of Peoplesoft Architecture, HRMS 9.X, PeopleTools 8.5X Skills in network maintenance, performance tuning or related knowledge Basic knowledge of .NET framework, web and proxy servers Basic knowledge of database development, implementation, administration, and SQL Basic familiarity with typical system admin tasks Basic knowledge of batch processing Basic knowledge of system configuration management techniques Basic knowledge of PowerShell scripting Basic knowledge of SQ Per federal guidelines, you may be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to obtain vaccination.

RESPONSIBILITIES:




Maintain the database infrastructure and data repositiories for USAF's TDL Interoperability Enhancement Tools to include database maintenance and configuration management.


Provide technical expertise to support interoperability of USAF databases with the Joint Interoperability Enhancement Process (IEP).


Support the USAF in development of rules regarding direct access and use of USAF Interoperability Enhancement Tool databases.


Develop data sharing schemas for data contained in USAF Interoperability Enhancement Tool databases.




QUALIFICATIONS:



Associate's degree in a technical field
Five years of experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), Metadata/Data Modeling, eXtensible Markup Language (XML), XML Schema (XSD), Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Unified Modeling Language (UML), and XQuery
Two years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server

Senior Database Administration Analyst (MS SQL Server)

We need Someone who can:

Perform physical and logical database administration functions as required for Application to Sustain Services.

Assist in analyzing, performance tuning and maintain test and production databases.

Experience in database support in MS SQL Server environments.

Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.

Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.

Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.

Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.

Propose database changes to ease monitoring and administrative effort.

Document and implement changes to databases via proper Change Management methodology.

Monitor and analyze database activity to proactively identify and prevent potential Incidents and recommend performance improvements.

Participate in situation management of incidents related to database operations.

Test and evaluate impact on Applications of new DBMS Software releases.

Ensure integrity of all database components, e.g. Table definitions, structure definitions, statistic and indexes status etc.

Report and remediate all security violations.

Familiar with tuning utilities and reports. For example SQL trace, System Monitor, Activity Monitor, and Database Engine Tuning Advisor etc.

Familiar with MS Service Pack patching procedure.

Capable of evaluating new RDMBS technology with the objective to improve the quality of database administrative tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

8+ years of SQL Server database administration and design.

Extensive T-SQL tuning experience.

Solid knowledge of Windows scripting.

Strong communication, decision making and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Able to work under pressure and take responsibility during situation management.

Agree to work independently to carry out on-call duties as scheduled.

Additional Desired Knowledge/Experience:

Experience working with multiple versions of SQL server: individually, in parallel, and using cross-server connectivity

Experience creating, configuring, monitoring, managing, and remediating SQL Server in on-prem VM and physical scenarios.

Experience creating, configuring, monitoring, managing, and remediating SQL Server on Azure VMs

Experience setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting MSDTC

Experience with SQL encryption processes and procedures

Experience Installing, configuring, monitoring, and managing SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups

Experience with migrating SQL server data from on-prem to an Azure environment

Experience performing data migrations from older SQL versions to newer versions on separate systems.

Basic SQL server and connectivity troubleshooting skills

Effective written and oral communication with team members and co‑workers from other teams, including developers, testers, configuration management, and others.
