Database architect job description

Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals available for contract, contract to hire, or direct placement positions to companies in and around the Kansas City, St. Louis, and Denver Areas.
We are currently looking for a
Database Architect
to join our team.


Responsibilities


Works closely with business and IT stakeholders to optimize information assets by defining business requirements and delivering appropriately structured information and analytical solutions. Builds an inventory of information assets needed for solution architecture and creates a vision for how information will flow through the organization leveraging existing platforms and processes where applicable. Responsible for the design, security, compliance, reliability, and performance of the solution architecture. Designs complex data models, develops capacity planning, and implements systems. Designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence solutions. Produces and enforces standards, processes, and procedures for the solution architecture. Works in an agile environment and continuously reviews business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks. Seeks continuous performance improvement and ensures the security of information. Acts as a resource and impacts the quality of work for colleagues with less experience. Builds an understanding of source application databases by analyzing data models and leveraging data profiling techniques. Performs other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications


10+ years information management, data warehouse or other relevant experience 5+ years database, data modelling, data transformation and data analysis experience.
Prior experience as an Information Architect, Lead Data Engineer or Data Warehouse Architect Proven history of designing and building Data Hubs or Operational Data Stores to collect and facilitate access to data assets. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies.
Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and projects. Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information. Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus and influence decisions. Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or difficult information in straightforward manner.



Preferred Qualifications


Experience with iterative development methodologies. Experience working with global teams in global organizations. Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge or certification

The Role:
Our Database Architect will be instrumental to Braviant's success by individually contributing to development, designs and implementation of Braviant's relational database. A successful Database Architect will lead a team of database engineers from requirement analysis through production deployment enabling the growth of our online lending applications. They will be working collaboratively with our product, data, and software engineering teams on designs and implementations to grow our business while reporting directly to the Director of Data Engineering.
What you'll be doing:Develop technical solutions for long-term growth of our online databases to meet the ever-growing needs of the business.Collaborate with the other application architects to design and develop solutions that meet the business requirements.Analyze and assess existing platforms for maintainability, reliability, scalability, and performance. Help define improvements for existing solutions.Working with our product team to understand business requirements as they relate to our relational database.Lead a team of database developers to ensure on-time delivery of designs and implementations as well as production support after deployment.
What you'll bring:7+ years experience in database design and development.4+ years working with multiple relational databases.Strong Knowledge of database procedural language plpgsql for Postgres and proficiency in writing functions, procedures and triggers.2+ Years Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience.Experience managing and leading a database team.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
What makes you stand out:Knowledge of Postgres internals, including Postgres catalog tables with experience creating utilities based on catalog tables.Experience using foreign data wrappers (FDW) in Postgres.Experience managing and leading a database team.Experience architecting data solutions in AWS.

Data Architect is responsible to define and lead the Data Architecture, Data Quality, Data Governance at lucid, for both Vehicle and Operational data, ingesting, processing, and storing Trillions of rows of data per day. This hands-on role helps solve real big data problems, which most of the standard tools on the market are not capable of handling. You will be designing solutions, writing codes and automation, defining standards, and establish best practices across the company.
The Job:You deal with demanding customers and pressing deadlines - but that just keeps things interesting.Requirements gathering, feasibility analysis, logical and physical DB modeling/ design, ERD etc.Choose the right DB (RDBMS/NoSQL/Graph/JSON/Columnar/Time-series etc.) for the right data and polyglot architecture Work with our developers and business analysts to create and modify our database structure MySQL:Creating the databases, and creating the tables, indexes, views, constraints, stored procedures etc.Architecting, designing the DB schema, identifying proper indexing, DB/SQL tuning etc.Define the modern distributed database architecture for existing and new applications MongoDBAs a database architect, you should be able to provide solution for application team requirements and how to design the best MongoDB schema for a given application.Identifying proper indexes, and tuning etc.Neo4JAs a database architect, you will design and build graph database load processes to efficiently populate the knowledge graphs using datasets to solve various business use cases.Experience with encryption solutions for Neo4J experience with backup & recovery methodologies used for Neo4J
Minimum Qualifications:7+ years of experience in Database Architecture and Design experience.7+ years of experience in solution design patterns7+ years of experience with Installing, configuring, maintaining of SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch or Neo4JExperience with at least two coding and scripting languages e.g., Python, Java, Scala, Shell Scripting
Preferred QualificatrYou have experience defining and evaluating application solution architectures and roadmaps You are a "Big Picture" Thinker - you can maintain perspective and establish context.Demonstrate an understanding of the differences between typical relational and NoSQL database development and access methodologies Experience with LDAP Based Authentication & AuthorizationArchitecting event-driven systems like Kafka, Kinesis, Data streams/pipelines, ETL.Assist with schema design, code review, query tuning.Kubernetes experience.
Education Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent Master's degree preferred
