How you will impact Southern States Cooperative:


Performs a variety of retail operations functions to ensure sales readiness and customer support at Southern States Cooperative, Inc. (SSC) service and cooperative locations. Job functions vary by location and generally include: receiving merchandise and maintaining warehouse inventory, stocking shelves and supporting merchandising efforts, maintaining showroom appearance, filling customer orders and providing loading assistance, and performing general facility maintenance. Effectively operates a forklift and other industrial equipment. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

Maintain regular communication with store leadership to receive daily assignments and provide timely information regarding receiving and inventory supply, customer orders, showroom appearance, facility maintenance, safety, loss prevention, and other factors critical to daily operations.

Provide prompt and courteous customer support. Assist customers with filling orders, lifting and accessing products, and loading merchandise into vehicles. Verify invoices to ensure proper merchandise and quantities are loaded. Effectively secure loads.


What you need to succeed:

Education: Requires a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: Prefer previous experience in a warehouse handling inventory and operating industrial equipment including forklift, front-end loader, pallet jack, and/or skid loader. Customer-focused communication skills, familiarity with agricultural industry, and/or previous Southern States work experience a plus.

We currently have an opening in our San Jose, CA branch for a safe, dependable driver to add to our delivery team. In this role you will make customer deliveries and perform needed general warehouse duties. These would include but are not limited to: load/ unload delivery trucks and vendor shipments, product put-away, assisting the counter picking orders when needed, and all other general warehouse and driver duties as deemed necessary by management.
The ideal candidate will have:
*Driving experience as a commercial truck driver; minimum age 26
*Valid and Current California Class C license
*Good driving record -- must have no more than 2 DMV points in a 3 year period (current); no major violations; no bodily injury at fault accidents on driving record, and must be insurable under the company's current insurance policy
*Basic computer knowledge
*Ability to navigate via map books & GPS equipment
*General warehouse experience
*Strong customer service skills
*Ability to effectively read, speak and communicate in English
*Experience driving 16'-26' straight box truck preferred

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of delivery driver:
*Safe and appropriate driving of delivery truck
*Maintain truck safety and efficient operation of vehicle; report any damage to vehicle or customers property
*Provide exceptional customer service ensuring timely deliveries
