Chapin Furniture is a family-owned retail business founded in 2002, serving Chapin and the Greater Columbia, SC region. We are currently looking for punctual, dependable, energetic, self-motivated individuals to join our warehouse and delivery team. Candidate’s skill sets must include good customer service skills, proactive problem solving, and ability to to perform tasks outlined for position.
This position will include driving a 16-foot box truck, and delivering and installing furniture in homes mainly in the Chapin and Greater Columbia regions of South Carolina. It will also involve warehouse and showroom responsibilities as mentioned in job description below. Communication and customer service skills must be very good for this position. We interact daily with our fellow team members and customers. We pride ourselves on making the delivery a great final experience with Chapin Furniture.
This is a full-time position. Full-time benefits include shared cost individual health insurance coverage after introductory probation period, and accumulating paid vacation of up to two weeks per year. Team bonuses are also given based on store performance. Growth opportunities available. Previous warehouse and delivery experience a plus.
Typical work week is 40 hours per week (9 am- 5pm), with Sundays and most Wednesdays off (rotation schedule on Wednesdays).
Must be able to work Saturdays and busy holiday weekends.
Applicant must be drug-free, have a clean driving record, and is subject to a background check.
Applicant will need to be proficient in driving a delivery truck.
Under the direction of the warehouse supervisor, job responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Receiving shipments Use of barcode scanners for inventory control (will train) Lifting and moving large pieces of furniture, sometimes over 100 lbs Operation of furniture transportation machinery to include warehouse order picker and delivery truck (CDL is not required) Delivery, installation and setup of heavy furniture (sometimes exceeding 100 lbs) in customers’ homes (often upstairs) Assembly of furniture in homes and at warehouse Warehouse and showroom maintenance Stocking furniture in store showroom Providing excellent customer service

* Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
* Notifies Dispatch or Route Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pick-ups or problems that arise on the route.
* Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
* Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customers location clean and free of debris.
* Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
