Development/resource managers, or human resource managers, are individuals who recruit employees, manage staff payroll, vacation pay, and retirement benefits. These professionals follow company department policies and procedures regarding hiring, supervising, training, evaluating, and managing all employees, including both temporary and contract staff members. Development/resource managers act as liaisons between upper management and staff and are responsible for advocating for employees, as well as handling all staffing needs for an organization.

Development/resource managers respond to employee complaints, address workplace issues involving employees, organize staff events and training classes, recognize the accomplishments of employees, and facilitate organization social events. These professionals typically work in an office environment during a normal work week but may be required to travel in some cases.
