On May 7, 1912 a town meeting was held, and community members passed a resolution to establish Abington General Hospital.
In 1913, the cornerstone of Abington Memorial Hospital was laid.
Abington Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1914.
In the summer of 1960, Jefferson Memorial Hospital opened as a small rural hospital in Jefferson City.
In March 1962, bids were opened and contracts were let to start construction.
The hospital and nursing home began operating in October 1963.
1968: Addition of south wing, increasing hospital capacity to 49 beds
1970: Addition of administrator’s office, conference room, and business office space
1983: Addition of eight-bed wing to nursing home, bringing total to 41 nursing home beds
1988: Expansion of nursing home dining room, addition to laundry area
1996: Addition of Bob & Wauneta Burkley Wellness Center (now Jefferson Community Health & Life Burkley Fitness Center, new occupational therapy area, expanded physical therapy area, new front entrance and waiting area
In just a few years, St Mary's purchased 121 acres of farmland along the western edge of Jefferson City and built a $20 million hospital and medical office building that opened in January 2001.
2004: Completed Cedarwood Assisted Living on the hospital campus
2007 - Abington Health Center - Warminster Campus, Warminster, PA - The former Warminster Hospital has been transformed into a convenient outpatient center.
2008 - Lansdale Hospital, Lansdale, PA - Abington Memorial Hospital purchased the former Central Montgomery Medical Center, renaming the facility Lansdale Hospital, under the trusted umbrella of Abington Health.
2009 – Abington Health – Next GenerationWith the formation of Abington Health in 2009, the commitment to excellence has expanded, bringing the trusted services of AMH to even more residents.
2017: Became Jefferson Community Health & Life with a new Commitment to Health
