Consolidated Precision Products (CPP)- Syracuse is a manufacturer of premium investment castings for the Aircraft and Industrial Gas Turbine industry which has been in business for over 70 years. We are currently looking for a
Dimensional Engineer
to develop robust processes and tooling to support the company's growth in the industrial and aerospace investment casting markets. CPP - Syracuse is located in Chittenango, NY and employs over 200 employees.

The selected candidate will be responsible for problem solving, the concepts, and tools of problem solving are essential to the job. Engineers will be required to: identify/define problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach (PDCA, Six-Sigma...). Knowledge and application of statistics. Occasionally take a leadership role in resolving cross-functional problems.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES


Develop, maintain, and teach "best practice" investment casting procedures and practices. Responsible for the construction of all dies (shrink factor analysis), gages, and support tooling needed to produce and inspect cores, wax patterns, and castings. Responsible for control of dimensional quality of casting. Continuous improvement of process/product such that the castings meet or exceed customer expectations.
Strong working knowledge of GD&T
Able to interpret customer drawings, specifications, blueprints, models (CAD/NX), and layout reports.


QUALIFICATIONS


BS in Engineering or 3-5 years of applicable experience (investment casting, tooling design, and CAD (preferably NX) experience).xcel

We are currently seeking a Body Dimensional Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional who excels at 3DCS DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS. Role:Experience/Knowledge in tolerance stacks studies using 3DCS Should able to do RSS 1D stacks for quick analysis during the design phase.Recommend best gauging methods and perform data analysis to identify special and common cause problems Assist in the development and rollout of training to Design engineers whenever required.Support plants in determining the root cause of dimensional issues Working with cross-functional teams to recommend and evaluate corrective action Develop, validate and incorporate total vehicle Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements Supporting design and production of all assembly fixtures used in the body shop and general assembly with manufacturing team whenever required Assist manufacturing with the assembly line and total vehicle production by providing relative dimensional input, direction, and support Track and report on all program dimensional specification (DTS) requirements and progress towards 100% compliance Define preliminary dimensional control plan including datum's, drawing requirements, and measurement point routine for KPC part quality definition Resolve dimensional specifications not meeting established targets to meet 100% compliance Read and interpret CMM reports for part quality.
Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of experience in dimensional engineering with automotive body structure Background in Dimensional EngineeringRequire hands-on experience in Catia V5/V6.Understanding of GD&T, Inspection Methods, Measurement SystemsUnderstanding of Statistical Process Capability, Root Cause Analysis, and Problem Solving TechniquesPPAP & APQP experience is beneficial Data loop/polyworks inspector knowledge/experience is beneficial Excellent communication skills Strong ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools
Education:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Preferred:Strong understanding of product design, vehicle assembly, and manufacturing methods Stronghold on ASME Y14.M 2009, certified SME GDTP preferred

Job description: Responsibilities will include:
• Requirement Setting - This will include understanding new structures through engineering know-how and Honda proprietary methods to determine the strength and durability requirements for development vehicles.
• Development Testing - This will include evaluation of full vehicle, subsystem and component level tests (through physical testing or engineering estimations) to evaluate strength, durability, bolted joint toughness and general marketability of development vehicles.
• Countermeasure Development - If concerns arise from testing, the candidate will be responsible for development of appropriate countermeasure plans and working closely with design departments to implement.
• Technical Reporting and Presenting - Clearly being able to document and present test results and countermeasure recommendations in a group setting is the final step in completing the development process.
• Test Engineer with over 5 years of test engineering experience in required test and confirmation per area of specialty.
• Applies engineering principles, experiences and various analysis tools to develop test plans/procedures to test design parts/components in area of specialty to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards.
• Creates data settings, test specifications/standards and test schedule, prepares/setups test equipment, conducts moderately complex tests and documents/summarizes test results/conclusions, verifying testing accuracy/thoroughness and determining if additional testing is needed.
• Analyzes/interprets test results, predicting performance/failure and providing required product/design data, identifying issues/developing countermeasures, communicating test results clearly in written reports/formal presentations and proposing design changes and recommending countermeasures based on analysis of testing results.

Skills:

Tolerance stack analysis, GD&T knowledge, simulation tools, Siemens VSA (Variation Simulation Analysis) and 3DCS (Embedded in Catia V5)
primary tool is VSA but 3DCS (or another tolerance analysis tool, like CeTol) experience is perfectly acceptable
Candidate will be responsible for guaranteeing full vehicle, subsystem, and component performance in strength and durability throughout vehicle development, from concept to final design.
