**Summary**
Proactively manage Freeman's DOT Compliance program efficiently, cost-effectively and in line with all state and federal compliance requirements. Also, support the Sr. Direcotr of Safety Field Operations and VP of ERM to identify, monitor, and mitigate the company's transportation related safety risks. Implements enterprise wide risk management tools and to analyze and report enterprise transportation risks. Manages these risks according to an enterprise risk management framework. Ensures that the organization is in compliance with applicable regulations and the strategic imperatives of the organization related to DOT.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Oversee and manage Freeman's DOT Compliance program.
+ Develop proactive strategies to support Freeman locations in decreasing transportation and DOT Compliance risks through safety education and providing value add data analytics.
+ Work closely with the Sr. Director of Safety Field Operations and VP - ERM to determine the risk management strategy and deliver that strategy to the company using a network of internal and external alliances and strong business skills.
+ Maintain an intimate knowledge of internal business processes and the organization's industry.
+ Exhibit business process knowledge, possess a broad based operational perspective and provide solutions for business risk issues.
+ Monitor and analyze transportation risks within the company's business units and implements mitgation efforts.
+ Direct the activities of consultants, and service companies, to ensure the quality of service is focused on supporting the risk management department and their customer base.
+ Provide technical support and guidance in DOT Compliance and transportation risk management issues.
+ Respond to the daily requests for information and assistance from senior management and the various operating groups.
+ Meet with line operating personnel to assist in surfacing potential causes of loss and/or DOT infractions. Suggest alternative ways to minimize losses and prevent DOT infractions.
+ Benchmark industry trends and comparatives.
+ Maintain strong business relationships with third party DOT compliance vendors and vehicle maintenance providers.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Business, Transportation or Safety related field.
+ 5 or more years of progressive experience in a transportation, compliance and/or safety related field, preferably for a large private or publicly traded company
+ Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet applications and executive level presentations
+ Deadline driven - must be able to operate quickly and on schedule. Ability to handle high volume of short-term deadlines (multitasking)
+ Logical & analytical - good at analyzing problems or situations, quickly identifying the root issues of the problem
+ Self-motivated and proactive with ability to prioritize work without supervision (work independently)
+ Strong organization skills- ability to effectively manage a high volume of simultaneous responsibilities and respond appropriately to different priority situations
+ Experience with day-to-day interaction with the head of an ERM function, Treasurer, Controller, and senior legal staff
**Certificates, Licenses, Registrations**
+ Certified Transportation Safety Professional certification preferred.
