Confirms patients' insurance provider and either obtains prior authorization or communicates need for prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed.
Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone.
Ensures completion of assessment for advance directive, including DNR when applicable.
Reviews discharge instructions with patients and ensures proper follow-up appointments are scheduled at the time the procedure is scheduled.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that organizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Assists other members of the department as needed.

Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone.
Ensures completion of assessment for advance directive, including DNR when applicable.
Reviews discharge instructions with patients and ensures proper follow-up appointments are scheduled at the time the procedure is scheduled.

SUMMARY

Knowledge of central and sterile supply department.
Opens all sterile packs according to sterile technique and prepares instruments as needed.
Helps prepare Operating Room by setting up surgical instruments, ensuring equipment works properly, labeling sterile solutions.
Helps gather supplies and equipment in the room.
Maintains record on field of medication used intra-operatively, specimens retrieved, tissue implanted, implants, liquids or chemicals on field.
Passes instruments and other sterile supplies to surgical assistants.
May hold retractors, cut suture, help count sponges, needles or blades if applicable.
Prepares, cares for and disposes of specimens taken for laboratory analysis.
Operates sterilizer, lights, suction, and other Operating Room equipment and diagnostic equipment.
Assists in patient transfer to PACU, if needed.

Dispense all glasses and/or contact lens orders in E360
Ensure all job aids and policies are followed
Maintain frame standards with cleaning and organization of fully stocked and well-presented areas
Follow all protocols to keep frame inventory accurate
