Responsibilities

PLEASE NOTE: OFFERS ARE CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING. 1st shift Key Accountabilities: • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and techniques to the design and development of mechanical or electrical operating systems. • Ability to evaluate designs and perform trade studies for performance, functional adequacy, cost effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. • Ability to develop specifications and oversee supplier hardware development, test, and certification programs. • Knowledge of material selection, packaging methods, routings and installation in aircraft environments. • Knowledge of drafting and dimensioning fundamentals. • Knowledge of three-dimensional CAD software for development of details, assemblies, and installation drawings. • Areas of expertise may include design of hydraulics, pneumatics, miscellaneous fluid systems, mechanisms, wire harness, and electrical equipment installation.

**JOB SUMMARY:**

The Electrical Systems Integration Designer (or Engineer) is responsible for executing robust electrical routed system harness designs, complex component placement, vehicle level planning, design, validation, manufacturing, and field support of worldwide off-road electrical systems to support design implementation into production. The primary area of focus will be on Polaris Off-Road vehicles with involvement on other Polaris products as required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

1. Close collaboration with the Platform Electrical Design Architect and systems engineer to grasp the desired physical strategy for a vehicle electrical system and then proceed to execute it in the CAD realm.

2. Responsible for ownership and directing activities for the electrical system in CAD, including finalizing component placement, routing harnesses, and developing interfaces with other systems.

3. Participates in collaborative design reviews on projects to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.

4. Assists in the design of brackets, features, interfaces, and other mechanical components to achieve successful component placement and harness routings.

5. Ownership of all bolted joints and any other mechanical attributes related to the electrical system

6. Meets project design release deadlines, including the ability to identify and prioritize the appropriate tasks when there are competing priorities

7. Assist with developing and managing the electrical system variant strategy that will support varying feature levels and PG&A needs on vehicle platforms

8. Manage electrical design release activities

9. Actively engages with the Manufacturing team to ensure robust manufacturability of the electrical system

10. Actively engages with the Validation and Field Support teams to resolve validation or customer issues and work to resolution

11. Actively engages with Project teams to manage vehicle electrical system timelines and Bill-Of-Materials

12. Collaborate with electrical vendors to develop new designs, processes, and support Design-For-Manufacturing activity

13. Performs other miscellaneous electrical design assignments as required.

**SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE**

+ Minimum 1 year design experience in a related field

+ Proficiency with MCAD and ECAD required. Prefer previous Creo and Mentor Capital Harness experience.

+ Experience with the routing of cables and flexible components desired. Superior technical knowledge as demonstrated by academic or on-the-job experience and broad practical experience in design.

+ Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals

+ Experience in new product design and development

+ Strong mechanical aptitude

+ Attention to detail while managing significant complexity on multiple concurrent programs

+ Takes a hands-on approach in product development - continuously working to correlate designs with real-life performance and function.

+ Ability to troubleshoot issues and quickly work towards issue resolution

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.

+ Ability to delegate work to supporting team members (domestic and international) who will support design and drafting activities

+ Some travel required to support vehicle builds and interface with suppliers (US and International)

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), MQ-25 Electrical Team has an immediate need for an Electronic and Electrical Engineer - Electrical Systems Designer (Level 3), in Berkeley, MO. The selected candidate will participate in requirement development (ICD, Procurement Spec) for aircraft Systems design.

They will develop and maintain system schematics and cable/wire harness detail designs using Mentor Graphics or other design tools which meet these requirements and provide product definition to several Integrated Product Teams, various engineering functions, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for the development, maintenance and release of electrical System Schematics and Build to Prints(BTP) using Team Center, and utilize this tool as a master database and configuration control method.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

* The candidate should be experienced in designing System Wiring Diagrams, Basic schematics, Wire harnesses.

* The candidate should have experience using product data management tools. Teamcenter experience preferred.

* The candidate should have supplier coordination experience and shop support.

* The candidate should be a highly motivated, self-starting individual with strong interpersonal skills.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation.
