Position Overview:
Our Student Program provides amazing opportunities to develop functional job skills and gain real-world experience and expertise. We offer spring, fall and year-round internships and co-ops in fields across the company, including engineering, finance, and business development.
We are currently seeking a Fall Co-op in our SoftwareEngineering department. As a SoftwareEngineering Co-op, you will provide prototyping, coding, testing, scripting, and document generation in support of software development activities. The code will be developed in C++, C#, C, and Python and it will run on various types of hardware using Windows, Linux, or some sort of Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). Git and Bitbucket will be used to keep track of your changes. Jira will be used to track tasks and defects. You will submit your code for peer review prior to release. This will teach you the fundamentals of developing production quality code. You will benefit from working side-by-side with a talented and experienced group of professionals who are eager to mentor.
Responsibilities:
Code development in C++, C#, C, and Python
Software test development and execution
Creation and updates for requirements, test plans, and release documentation
Basic Qualifications:
University Junior or Senior
Working towards a BS/BE in computer science or preferably computer engineering
Experience with programming in C++ or C#
Interest in embedded programming and working with hardware
Understanding of Object-Oriented Design
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience programming in Python is preferred but not required
Experience using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is preferred but not required

The Electrical & Firmware Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end development of embedded control systems supporting LiquidPiston's advanced engine platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong C programmer with deep experience on TI C2000 microcontrollers, capable of designing, implementing, and validating both hardware and firmware components. This role involves multidisciplinary collaboration and requires a self-driven engineer comfortable working individually and in small teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and optimize embedded firmware primarily in C for TI C2000 Series microcontrollers.
Design and maintain control system architectures, including discrete and analog I/O, signal conditioning, PWM generation, and closed-loop PID control.
Create custom display and user interface solutions for character and graphical screens.
Implement and troubleshoot communication protocols including CANbus, SPI, I2C, and RS-232.
Support design and testing of power electronics control systems, including exposure to four-quadrant motor control and space vector modulation.
Design, prototype, and debug analog and digital circuits; support PCB design using tools such as Altium or OrCAD.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
* Bring advanced native engineering skills to be a critical member and technical leader of a team of engineers responsible for two of our multi-platform native runtimes
* Help define a roadmap and technical direction for these runtimes that power Hulu across many living room device models

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $188,400 - $252,600, Seattle, WA / New York, NY is $197,400 - $264,700 per year and in San Francisco, CA is $206,400 - $276,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
