About the Position:

The IU Health (IUH) team supports the downtown community in various ways, one of them being by providing safety and care during our downtown events. These include, but are not limited to basketball, football, and convention events. Our EMTs participate in all aspects of and manage the care, transport, and treatment of ill/injured patients. This included patients in both emergency and non-emergency situations.

A team member will have the chance to coordinate and manage neonatal, infant, pediatric, adult, and elderly patients. Therefore, they need to possess the required knowledge and skill for care. During care, EMTs may be required to acquire consents and authorizations from the patient or legal guardians. As a crew member, there are opportunities to work with ground-breaking technology available in our ambulances.

As a PRN/Supplemental team member, you'll have the opportunity to take advantage of some of the benefits IUH has to offer its team. We provide continuous opportunities for education and certification/licensure, volunteer and community outreach opportunities, as well as lateral and vertical movement within the organization. In addition, we offer flexible scheduling for our teams!

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

• EMT or PCA certification is preferred.

• Requires knowledge of routine patient care procedures.

• Requires familiarity with standard medical equipment and supplies.

• Requires basic understanding of infection control.

• Requires Knowledge of EMTALA

• Some experience in patient care within a hospital setting is preferred.

Our staff of more than 700 Associates works with more than 300 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families. In addition to interventional cardiac services, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - San Marcos is a Certified Chest Pain Center and an accredited Primary Stroke Center. We lead the region in da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery and offers a variety of specialty care services including medical imaging, rehabilitation, hospice, women's services and more.

The critical care technician (CCT) is a certified and/or licensed technician and is part of the Intensive Care or ED Department patient care team who collaboratively works in a complementary and assistive role with nursing. The CCT performs a variety of RN delegated tasks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The CCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with training, competence and skill. The CCT is knowledgeable of and follows all hospital policies and procedures and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment. The CCT may also perform all unit clerk/clerical duties for the unit.
Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required

Previous experience as a CNA, Certified Medical Assistant, Patient Care Tech, EMT, or Paramedic highly preferred

Acute-care hospital patient care experience highly preferred.

Current AHA BLS certification required

Current Texas certification as a C.N.A., Patient Care Tech or Medical Assistant required

If an EMT or Paramedic, current certification preferred

* Assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in the Emergency Center to patients of all ages per EC scope.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

* Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
