POSITION HAS A SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is a provider of comprehensive mental health services, offering inpatient, outpatient, home-based, school, and community-based programs to individuals and families in Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties in Southeastern Indiana. CMHC offers a full continuum of care to individuals and families of all ages. CMHC follows the recovery model which emphasizes and supports each individual's potential for recovery. Recovery is seen as a personal journey that utilizes supportive relationships, empowerment, social inclusion, and coping skills.

Position Responsibilities : The Nurse will work within our locked 16 bed Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit (IPU). The Nurse will render professional nursing services with the philosophy and procedures of the Inpatient Recovery Treatment Program. Performs admission and discharge of patients, assesses patient educational needs, administers medications in accordance with prescriber’s orders, assists doctors/APNs with physical examinations, develops individual recovery based treatment plans for clients.

Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently registered with the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau. One year nursing experience and some experience in a psychiatric setting is preferred. Registered Nurse (RN) Required.

Day-to-Day Expectations:

  • Provides necessary and appropriate nursing care to participants in the Inpatient Recovery Treatment Program.
  • Involved in treatment team report regarding patients assigned to the IPU with previous shift.
  • Completes admission and discharge of clients
  • Administers medications in accordance with prescriber’s orders
  • Notes and posts prescriber’s orders
  • Assists doctors/APNs with physical examinations
  • Facilitates and assists in educational recovery based group activities with clients on Inpatient Unit
  • Develops individual recovery based treatment plans for clients
  • Spends quality time with clients in one-to-one situations.
  • Interacts with families by telephone and face-to-face, incorporating social services and activity therapist to assist as needed.
  • Uses verbal and physical intervention with clients out of control.
