Our Machine Operators set up and operate basic machinery used in selecting operation sequences, tooling, speed and feeds, and torch travel on equipment including saws and CNC burning machines. Our Machine Operators earn a starting salary of $17.88 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience. There is a 7.5% shift differential for the Evening (2nd shift). Our Evening Shift (2nd shift) hours are Monday-Friday 3:30pm-2:00am

$1500.00 Sign-on bonus for the evening shift!


What You'll Do:


• Read and follow job order specifications and blueprints.
• Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
• Set up and operates automatic multiple-operation machine to perform any combination of bending, roll forming to fabricate metal sheets or plates.
• Installs and aligns roller dies, drive and forming rolls, forming dies using rulers, vernier gauges, square, shims, and hand tools.
• Sets side guides and stops. Turns knobs to regulate voltage of resistance and synchronize speed of feed rolls, forming rolls, punch, or shear rams.
• Places roll of sheet or strip metal onto feed roll, thread ends through machine or into drive rolls, or metal blanks or against guides to feed machine.
• Start machine, verify dimension of finished product visually or using micrometers, calipers, or gauges. Remove finished parts from machine.
• All duties must be performed in compliance with Astec Mobile Screens policies relating to safety and housekeeping.

What We Need from You:


• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Detail oriented in processing the paperwork used in the manufacture of parts (bills of material, dispatch lists, and work orders)
• Able to interpret sketches or simple orthographic detailed drawings and be familiar with material used at the respective machine
• Possess own tools or be willing to acquire own tools over a reasonable time (6 months to 1 year)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Checks parts for dimensions.
  • Assists with procuring materials needed for production. Must use tape measure, plug gauge, dial indicator, inside caliper, dial caliper, and burr knife.
  • Must operate the various equipment to include cutting couplings, machining couplings on the lathes, drilling holes, putting in set screws, hydro testing couplings, and packaging.

• Ability and willingness to take on additional assignments as requested by management.
• Use tools, equipment and technology, computers or automated systems.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Check results for conformance to print and / or specifications and make necessary corrections.
• Work with coworkers in a polite and courteous manner, providing cross training as needed.
• Able to work overtime as required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently

Education and Experience Qualifications:

Minimum education: High school diploma or GED.

Skills and Competencies/Requirements:

• Must be able to read and interpret drawings, standard work instructions, checklists, internal and external deviations, etc.
• Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite is preferred.
• Strong analytical and reasoning skills
• Must be a self-starter, team player and have the ability to multitask.
• Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Suggest and implement improvements. Follow up on details. Seek out productive work when assignments are completed. Actively participate in continuous improvement for our products and process to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability.

Equipment : tools, metatarsal safety shoes, safety glasses/goggles, gloves and other PPE as needed.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities : Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, standing for extended periods, lifting multiple pounds regularly, use wrist motion, reach above/below shoulders, step up/down, bend/stoop, twist, squat/crouch, kneel or crawl.

Essential Skills : Perform work standing on a concrete a minimum of 8 hours up to 10 hours per day. Reading, writing, oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, significant use of memory, finding information, computer use, and continuous learning. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Looking for Machine Operators/Material Handlers that wants to work in a professional, fun environment. The primary responsibility in the position is to operate machinery and handle materials including granite/stone in the fabrication shop; and to ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols.

Responsibilities

+ Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced according to established protocols

+ Maintain appropriate inventory levels and insure that materials and equipment are accounted for to avoid loss, theft, waste or damage

+ Coordinate with production manager

+ Ensure all incoming materials are off loaded properly according to company safety policies and procedures

+ Must adhere to all company safety procedures and practices including company drug-free workplace policy at all times

+ Ensure others perform on-going quality control inspections to detect fabrication errors/problems

+ Thoroughly review and understand all information listed on job paperwork prior to beginning a project

+ Using effective time management to ensure job completion is timely and thorough

Qualifications

+ Working knowledge of fabrication shop techniques, inventory, & project management

+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical Degree preferred but not required

+ Minimum of one year related experience and/or training preferred but not required; or equivalent combination of education and experience

+ Bilingual experience preferred but not required (English/Spanish)

+ Must have a willingness to acquire thorough knowledge of all available products used by the Company as it relates to products

+ Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain professional working relationships with builders, vendors, subordinates and co-workers
