Fabricator - 1st Shift Maintenance Department Reports to: Maintenance Manager $33-$38/hour based on experience We have an exciting opportunity for a problem solver, a change agent who is excited about taking Motus to the NEXT level. The Fabricator will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on all manufacturing equipment. Title: Fabricator Responsible for fabricating, maintaining, and repairing production tooling and fixtures in a rotational molding operation. This position is suited for individuals who are skilled at taking raw or semi-finished materials and transforming them into finished products or components through various processes like cutting, bending, welding, and assembling. The ability to solve problems, communicate clearly, and collaborate in a team environment are necessary to be successful in this position. Duties and Responsibilities: Fabricate mold out of various materials according to engineering drawings to meet customer specifications. Modify and repair existing tooling and fixtures as required. Weld both MIG and TIG (steel and aluminum). Use various machinery and equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinding machines, press brakes, shears, iron workers, and band saws. Sandblast tools and fixtures as necessary. Conduct thorough inspections and measurements to verify mold accuracy. Troubleshoot and resolve mold related issues via root cause analysis. Train other team members in the use of new mold or trim fixtures. Hand trim samples or prototype parts as needed. Complete paperwork as requested by supervisor. DEPARTMENT: Tube Mill SUPERVISED BY: Tube Mill Supervisor RESPONSIBILITIES: Turn on welder and operating stations for de-coiler and accumulator. Operate a forklift and overhead crane. Load de-coiler with material for accumulator to pull in. Make sure welders, de-coiler and accumulator are set to run. Check label, coil thickness, and width for material conformity. Enter coil labels into Kiosk then apply to a sheet and turn in at end of shift. Scans the coil into the tube mill machine using the Phoenix Bridge. Keeps track of weight needed to fill the work orders. Notifies operator of any mislabeled coils or shortages with slit coils. Before butt-welding insure both ends are joined and flattened properly. MUST grind every weld! Watch for tail-out of coil and alert mill operator if accumulator supply is low. Fill accumulator then set to mill match. Monitor Accumulator to ensure mill can attain maximum speed. Give instructions to other mill workers as needed. Assist on change overs for minimal downtime between production runs. Ability to work and interact well with others. Robotic/Process Welder: Operate, monitor, and maintain robotic welding systems. Inspect robotic welds, rework MIG welds, monitor parameters, maintain inspection records. Program robotic welding equipment for automated production runs. Troubleshoot and adjust robot settings to maintain weld quality and production efficiency. Work closely with engineers and technicians to optimize robotic processes. Maintain documentation related to robot operation, maintenance, and quality checks. MIG (GMAW) Welder: Perform MIG welding on components, assemblies, or structures according to specifications. Select appropriate wire, shielding gas, and parameters for the material and application. Ensure welds meet production and quality standards, including appearance and structural integrity. Assist in setup and maintenance of MIG welding equipment. Spot/Resistance Welder: Perform resistance spot welding operations on sheet metal assemblies. Maintain proper electrode alignment, pressure, and timing to ensure consistent weld quality. Monitor equipment for wear and performance issues, performing basic maintenance as needed. Work in accordance with production schedules and maintain high safety standards. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent, technical training, or certifications are preferred. Experience: Proven experience in one or more welding processes relevant to the specialization. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Required Skills: Basic PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Knowledge of weld symbols, tolerances, and metallurgy basics. Familiarity with welding inspection tools (calipers, gauges, microscopes, weld cameras). Experience with weld process optimization (adjusting parameters to reduce defects). Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of welding safety standards and procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Preferred Skills: AWS (American Welding Society) certification. Experience with specialty materials (stainless steel, aluminum, titanium).
