The Mental Health, SUD, and BHIS Insurance Biller is responsible for supporting the financial operations for our services by reviewing, submitting, and following up on insurance claims, as well as managing patient billing inquiries and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims (electronic and paper) for services rendered. Review patient records for completeness and ensure proper coding (ICD-10, CPT) of diagnoses and services. Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and resolve billing issues with insurance companies. Verify patient insurance benefits and coverage, including prior authorizations and eligibility checks. Process patient billing statements, post payments, and reconcile accounts. Respond to billing inquiries from patients, providers, and insurance companies. Maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements, billing regulations, and industry best practices. Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure compliance and timely submission of all documentation. Assist with month-end financial reports and audits as needed. Qualifications: Understand how to correct claims due to previous submission errors. Invalid [diagnosis/procedure code/other error] replaced with correct code [new code] to reprocess. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred. Experience in medical or behavioral health billing (preferably at least 1 year). Working knowledge of insurance plans (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial), and billing software/EMR systems. Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding for mental health services. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
