The Opportunity



Field Systems Service Engineer (FSSE)


As a Field Systems Service Engineer (FSSE), you will be responsible of delivery of services to end customers including but not limited to installation, planning, troubleshooting, problem resolutions, repairs, fixes, and upgrades on an array of TCG product suites that include both software and hardware. The FSSE will assist in fielding services such as hardware integration of TCG hardware components into existing operational fielded environments. You will be responsible in providing guidance, assistance, and execution on initial software and hardware training on TCG products during site visits with end-users/operators.

Your Challenge:


  • Requires a moderate to significant amount of travel both CONUS and OCONUS in supporting an array of TCG programs.
  • Serves as a client facing technical resource throughout the fielding process while working in collaboration with Tech Support, Lead System Engineer(s), and Account Manager(s) on TCG client programs.
  • Instructing customers in the operations and maintenance of TCG products.
  • Responsible for configuring, preparing systems delivery of services to assigned customers to ensure that their systems operate at customer's expected performance level consistently.
  • Responsible for hardware delivery lifecycle process to include but not limited to, system preparation, understanding end-user operational environment, system inspection, logistic coordination, onsite checklist preparation, on-site debriefs and out briefs, trip reports, and supporting internal programmatic reviews specific to the supported programs/sites.



Your Expertise:


  • Associates Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or similar field; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience with military communications/tactical data links
  • 4-6 years of experience in similar field
  • Exceptional client service skills with expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving complex system related problems. Radio Frequency (RF) communication (Antenna's, Satellites).
  • Self-directed, able to prioritize and effectively handle multiple services requests at a time under high-pressure and challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills
  • Experience with full lifecycle of the software engineering process including functional specification, design, implementation, and testing is desirable

Peraton is hiring a Field Systems Engineer join our Cyber Mission business unit at a customer site in San Antonio, TX. As a systems engineer on our team, you will support one of the largest enterprise-wide Engineering contracts within the Intelligence Community. This is a full-time position requiring 1880 hours of support per year; and work is performed at the customer site. As a Field Systems Engineer on our team you will employ a combination of science, process, innovation and personal diplomacy to support the Operational region's organizational elements in addressing and solving challenging problems that could benefit from SE methodologies and practices. Examples of tasks include:

  • prepare, coordinate, and maintain governance documents such as charters and standard operating procedures for forums/processes that support management business rhythms (enabling SE functions) and the SE process areas;
  • perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems;
  • perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal;
  • perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications;
  • provide technical input for strategic planning;
  • participate in a site risk management program, configuration management program and metrics management program;
  • work closely with the site CM POCs and support the site baseline process; and
  • execute proven industry Systems Engineering processes and methodologies to effectively and efficiently address site and Enterprise needs.

The SE focus will be primarily addressing the integration of systems/capabilities developed elsewhere into the Site baseline, O&M of mission/systems, and decommissioning of obsolete systems.

Qualifications

Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and at least 15 years of systems engineering experience. A Master's or PhD Degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Note: a High School Diploma or GED plus 19 years of systems engineering experience would also be acceptable.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and technical project management experience.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to the local Data Center Facilities team with a broad set of responsibilities.
  • Ability to coordinate on-going activities with Hardware Planning, Installation and Integration, Civil Engineering and Systems Engineering groups in evaluation and approval of new mission system installations.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting briefs for senior government program managers.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and long-range planning and activities with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to establish and execute Systems Engineering processes, including Baseline Configuration Management.
