Key Responsibilities: As an Airport Communications Technician you will work in a fast-paced Newark, New Jersey location. The Airport Communications Technician plays a very significant role in providing quality service to our internal customers and will be assigned to service two-way radio communication, dispatch console, and wireless headset used by ground service agents. The Technician should have detailed knowledge of installing and maintaining land mobile radio, air to ground radio, and equipment used support them including: * Systems and component level service and configuration of radio transmitter, receiver, antenna, transmission line, trunked radio systems, and related RF tuned equipment. * IP networked and analog consoles, control equipment, and related apparatus. * Apply analog and digital electronic fundamentals as they apply to land mobile radio and networked radio technologies. Technicians work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, in the outdoors in all weather conditions. Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority. This role is represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). Salary increases will be coordinated according to the current IBT/United contract. Shift differentials of $.51 $.58 cents per hour for working an afternoon or evening shift respectively are paid in addition to the hourly rate. New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment. There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues.
