Virtual Employee folder machine operator job description

Set up, operate and maintain folding machines that perform a variety of functions, such as folding, sawing, banding, wrapping, boxing or stacking of paper goods. Monitors quality checks on each shift and provides training to the Operator Assistant when applicable. This position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. Continuously supports Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy. This position status is non-exempt.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.

2. Understand and apply customer specifications to the operation of the machine to assure finished goods comply with customer requirements.

3. Program and monitor computerized operating panel if applicable. Calculate mathematical conversions to ensure proper standards are met for each product.

4. Initiate set up, operations, and adjustment of folding equipment and any downstream equipment to achieve established production quota.

5. Perform hourly quality checks to ensure accuracy of the production run and the submittal of daily quality reports to the QA department.

6. Monitor and perform product changeovers in conjunction with the Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs).

7. Ensure regular and open communications with quality, maintenance, and supervision.

8. Train and monitor the activity of the other employees on the machine.

9. Demonstrate leadership skills on a regular, consistent basis.

10. Work the 12-hour rotating shift requirement.

11. Keep the work area clean and organized while following the lean initiatives.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

1. Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.

2. Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.

3. Participate in any variety of meetings and workgroups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.

4. Perform other related duties as assigned.
