This role is part of the Global Freight Operations team, reporting to Team Lead Freight Operations - East and provides support to the Crude & Products Freight Trading desks who commercially manage upwards of 150 time-charter vessels carrying out roughly 2,500 voyages/year. Approx. 1,900 demurrage claims, and 1,200 Post Deal Expense claims are processed per annum with a total value of USD 240m.
This role will require strong collaboration with associated Commercial teams within Crude and Products Freight and complete alignment, creating process improvement & support of the strategies of these teams.
Freight Voyage Analysts can add multi-million USD to the bottom line of the Freight Trading books by protecting Shell's position through commercially savvy negotiation of claims with 3rd parties.

What's the role?
A successful candidate will have an awareness of all freight operational activities, obligations and requirements under the Charter Party terms, for both internal and third-party charters and exposures to the business as disponent Owners of a Time Charter controlled fleet.
Freight Voyage Analyst tasks will include the administration of all freight book operational activities, obligations and requirements under the charter party contract terms, for charters internally and with third parties, including operational elements of the time-chartered fleet such as off-hire, breakdown, deviation, HRA, Off hires and any event which may be recoverable either under the Time Charter or the appropriate Voyage Charter in accordance with charter party terms and conditions. The aim is to eradicate un-necessary profit leakage from the Crude and Product Freight books P&L.
We are looking for a motivated, results driven individual with good interpersonal skills, who can work well under pressure and be an integral member of both the SIETCO Crude and Product Freight Team and the Global Freight Operations Team.
Accountabilities:
Calculating and negotiating laytime and demurrage. Ensuring proper and timely invoicing and settlement of laytime calculations with external & internal counterparts. Contribute to the development and improvement of Freight Voyage global efficiency.Provide focal point for liaison with relevant departments responsible for the delivery of the necessary records and documentation for effective voyage analysis.Evaluation and maturation of estimates of revenue expected under the Charter Party (Port costs/deviation/HRA/other). Handle Time Charter claims such as Head owner's hire payments, sundries, and final hire settlements under Time Charter obligations.Responsible for calculating and negotiating Off hire claims.Prepare claims under the governing contracts requiring details investigation and understanding of voyage costs and exposures and Charter Party terms.Evaluation of all revenue streams for Trading as Ship-owners, ensuring that Freight invoices are correct and include fixed/variable diffs and overage.Close out period end duties to ensure accurate financial reporting.Monitor payments minimizing bad and aging debt, chasing counterparties in respect of overdue claims.Where necessary negotiate settlement with external customers to achieve optimum cost benefit to the business for disputed claims under the charter party arrangements entered by freight traders.Ensure that any specific learning points, poor practices are referred to the Freight Desk where an impact to business profitability is incurred.Advise trading staff of issues relating to post deal expenses and keep them fully appraised of claims in progress so that this can be considered in determining future business. Log and record all correspondence.Co-ordinate the required actions for other cost exposures for the voyage ensuring the relevant team is informed.Maintain records of claims activity to facilitate transparency to business.Monitor payments minimising bad and aging debt, chasing counterparties in respect of overdue claims.Give support to the freight desk regarding any additional queries regarding costs Process payments of ad-hoc invoices Provide ad hoc reports and presentations as required
What we need from you
Good understanding in Charter Parties Term. 1-2-year experience in CPP, DPP, Palm Oil, Gas & Chemicals tanks freight with direct involvement in laytime calculations and post deal support operations. Skill in Charter party analysis and post fixture expenses, with demonstrated comprehension of interpretations of Charter Party clauses. Able to demonstrate key negotiating skills for accurate determination of liabilities.Excellent numerical analytical and presentation skills Cross functional knowledge of Shipping Contracts & Operations and Freight & Trading Businesses. Individual must be pro-active, and confident to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
