    Job Description GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Project Lead as part of the system design and planning team referred to as Hi-Line Engineering. The position will lead a team to develop recommendations for utility upgrades to meet future load growth. This will include projecting loads, modeling future loads, and designing solutions related to serving the project loads. Work will include conducting arc flashing analysis, relay coordination, and supporting clients who own and operate utility systems on military bases which include contract negotiations, system expansion plans, and review of third-party designs. Work may include on-site inspection of power systems and client meetings. Presentations to clients will be expected. The Project Lead will develop methods to meet assignment requirements with the assistance of an experienced supervisor and be responsible for making assignments for project team members and delivering assignments on time and on budget. In addition, the Project Lead will apply standard electrical engineering practices, techniques, and calculations in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes deviations in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. Specific task assignments may include: Track project schedules and resource loading. Assign project tasks to team members. Develop methods to be used by team members to deliver work products. Develop/identify new business opportunities. Attending trade shows including development and presentation of white papers. Problem identification and resolution on Distribution System design projects Skilled in the application and use of distribution analysis and planning using software such as WindMil, and/or CYME. Skilled in the application and use of Time-Current Characteristics modeling and programming of typical electrical distribution equipment such as breakers, fuses, TripSaver II, and reclosers with close supervision. Knowledge of electrical distribution system planning and design engineering standards, practices, and regulatory requirements. Review of completed analysis and planning products to ensure compliance with client, industry, and regulatory requirements Review of planning products and design products to ensure compliance with quality and consistency expectations Develop technical system planning work scope of work. Develop cost estimates and valuations using software tools. Review construction documents for compliance with Client contract requirements. Working knowledge of RUS construction specifications and bulletins. Work as project lead to a group of individuals to meet project schedules. Qualifications: Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. Alternatively, equivalent 4-6 years of experience. Flexibility/availability to work extra hours when necessary to meet project requirements. Ability to travel to project site. Travel requirements will vary from 15% to 20%.
