Grinding machine operator job description

High school diploma or equivalent, and generally 2-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills

Ability to read, write and understand English to comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos as well to write simple correspondence. Able to communicate problems to supervisor or lead.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and seek supervisors for clarity.

Work Environment

• Follows safe work practices and maintains an organized and neat work area. This includes identifying potential risks and recommending/implementing remediations to those risks.
• Extensive interaction over the entire manufacturing floor requires significant standing and walking on an ongoing basis and the team leader must have the ability to sit and stand, use arms, hands and fingers to perform routine administrative duties and lift 50 lbs.
• Requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).

What will you do:

You will be working in our meat processing facility as a Machine Operator. You can expect to:

* Set up and inspect grinding equipment in accordance with the standard operating procedures and checklists.
* Analyze samples from raw materials to determine fat content using the Foodscan Fat Analyzer
* Assure the defect eliminator is working properly
* Operate South Grinding platform control panel. Make certain the correct frozen and fat recipes are used. Assure blenders have enough raw materials to supply the forming lines.
* Inject the correct amount of CO2 into the final mixer/grinder.
* Record usage using information from the combo labels
* Immediately report any foreign objects to the supervisor
* Record all rework materials and add in to the blender according to the specification.
* Keep area clean
* Other duties as assigned
* Been able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
* Personal Protective equipment Provided (boots, frocks, bump caps, earplugs)

* 1 month floor training closely supervised by Group Leader

Plasma Technology Inc has an excellent career opportunity for an OD Grind Machine Operator at our South Windsor, CT facility. Under the guidance of the Grind Supervisor, this position is responsible for meeting customer expectations with respect to delivery and quality. Set up, operate, observe, and maintain one or more grinding machine(s) to produce precision jet engine parts. Will be required to measure and inspect parts. 3-4 year’s experience working as a precision machine/grind operator preferred.
We are willing to train the right candidate.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set up and operate CNC and manual OD grinders and is capable of operating progressive and diversified machinery necessary to support manufacturing services
• Work with process engineering, quality control, and operations on all job releases to ensure compliance to customer requirements
• Meets productivity standards, and completes work in a timely manner
• Analyze programs, work instructions, op-sheets, and tooling requirements
• Perform setups, including tooling, hardware, and fixturing required for the job
• Perform routine quality checks and measurements, make necessary adjustments and/or offsets
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on the machines and maintain an organized and clean workspace
• Contribute to manufacturing process improvement
• Work to company policies and practices of safe working standards
• Determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a job
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
• Read job work instructions to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and plan operational sequences
• Start machines, pull handles, use part fixtures, etc., use other means to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms, etc.
• Manually position, adjust and secure stock workpieces against stops, in fixtures.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the grinding process
• Observe the machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions; adjust machines as necessary
• Inspect work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to determine the accuracy of machine operation using micrometers, gauges, templates, or other measuring instruments
• Perform minor machine maintenance as needed such as oiling or cleaning machines, adding coolant to machine reservoirs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS :
• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
• Able to follow all established safety procedures and protocols
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR-related data.
