Ground systems engineer skills for your resume and career
15 ground systems engineer skills for your resume and career
1. Systems Engineering
- Performed systems engineering and equipment design and selection for the USG Timing and Frequency Distribution Subsystem (UTFD).
- Conducted analyses of operational and functional requirements, developed and presented Systems Engineering work products, coordinated design and development activities.
2. Software Development
Software development is the mechanism by which programmers create computer programs. The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a framework for developing applications that follow technological needs and consumer requirements. It consists of many stages. The SDLC establishes an international standard that software developers can use to enhance and create their programs. It provides a well-defined framework for software developers to pursue in the production, maintenance, and design of premium quality software. The aim of the software development process is to create high-quality software on time and within budget.
- Work closely with Flight Software development team to ensure software updates and patches meet all Launch requirements.
- Used the Agile Software Development Methodology.
3. DOD
Definition of Done (DoD) is a set of deliverables that are needed to devise software. These deliverables are valuable to the system and can be exemplified by writing code, coding comments, unit testing, integration testing, design documents, release notes, and so on.
- Developed a computer and communication system support database repository in support of USNORTHCOM/J6 organizational architecture efforts using DOD Architecture Framework model.
- Performed security assessment and security vulnerability mitigation and lock down on windows servers to meet requirements for operating on DoD networks.
4. NASA
- Participated in SC level environmental testing, mission planning, and mission simulations with NASA.
- Engaged in refurbishing and replacing critical mechanical ground support equipment (GSE) for NASA's return to flight effort.
5. Regression
- Provided risk mitigation by performing diligent unit, integration and regression testing of the software components of the application sub-systems.
- Assisted in the integration, regression testing, and final implementation of new or upgraded ground systems into satellite operations.
6. Linux
Linux is a Unix-like operating system. Just like Windows, Mac OS, and IOS, Linux is an operating system used by millions across the globe. Android itself is powered by the Linux operating system. Linux manages all the hardware resources that are associated with your computer. The software is famous because of the protection it grants from viruses, malware, and crashes. The Linux operating system is entirely free and is an open-source software meaning it can be altered by those equipped with the knowledge to code.
- Perform Unix Systems administration and maintenance duties on Linux workstations and servers in both Research and Development and Engineering Development environments.
- Designed and deployed active directory servers for a heterogeneous network of Windows and Linux operating systems.
7. System Architecture
- Analyzed and allocated system requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
- Developed top level system architectures and designs for computer-based distributed signal processing subsystems in US Government strategic ISR signal collection facilities.
8. NOAA
- Maintained anomaly and satellite scheduled events database for controllers and NOAA Engineering.
- Coordinate meetings and status reports with NASA/NSOF and NOAA customers and Leading payload/Spacecraft commission and transition team.
9. RF
- Provide engineering support and assists in the civilian/military/contractor team to include support of RF systems and other RF related engineering requirements.
- Created device and system requirements specifications for product safety, RF performance and RF regulatory compliance for an implantable epilepsy monitor.
10. Technical Support
Technical support or tech support are the services provided by any hardware or software company to users. They help in solving the technical difficulties the customers face with their products or services. Moreover, the tech support employees maintain, manage, and repair the IT faults. They are also responsible for resolving the network problems, installing and configuring hardware and software.
- Provided technical support to, and maintained communication with, buyers and vendors during procurement and fabrication activities.
- Provide in-depth technical support to the GSEs, the customers, GSE Lead and Combined Logistics Support Team and Management.
11. Configuration Management
Configuration management is a technical system of management controls that includes decisions, actions, and approvals that are applied throughout the life cycle of a program or system and that maintain the consistency of its performance, functional and physical attributes from the conceptual phase to production and finally to post-production support.
- Developed process to streamline configuration management of the architecture, reducing workload by 70%.
- Performed enterprise configuration management and security update administration.
12. Trade Studies
- Coordinated intensive space and ground technical architecture trade studies based on figures of merit.
- Led detailed trade studies and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
13. System Integration
System integration refers to connecting distinct subsystems into a sole bigger system that tasks as one in very extensive terms. In engineering, the principal system integrator integrates separate systems using various techniques such as enterprise application integration, computer networking, business process management or manual programming.
- Designed system integration solutions to demonstrate modeling and simulation and actual air vehicle integration
- Performed system integration configuration and system/subsystem verification and validation testing
14. MATLAB
- Analyzed telemetry data with tools including MatLab to write Requirements Verification Reports proving that SBIRS HEO met specification requirements.
- Analyzed collected data from experiment to interpret system performance by executing data processing and statistical techniques using MATLAB.
15. End Testing
- Planned and executed end-to- end testing of the SBIRS ground stations.
