Summary:
The industrial hygiene and safety (IHS) professional develops, recommends, and implements programs, policies, and procedures associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and safety hazards. The IHS professional may provide daily industrial hygiene and safety support to programmatic or facility organizations or the IHS professional may manage and administer one or more institutional health and safety programs or services.

Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories. Viewed as an expert in the field within the Laboratory. Has impact on successes of future concepts, products or technologies. Responsibilities
This is a client-focused role providing support on site in either Los Alamos, NM or Albuquerque, NM. Work travel should be limited. You will be part of client Industrial Hygiene & Safety teams that support industrial hygiene efforts in both laboratory R&D and construction/maintenance settings. In this role, you will be responsible to ensure field support and implementation of ES&H programs are adequate, effective and efficient. You will be responsible for the implementation of a variety of industrial hygiene program initiatives and services, for example, comprehensive industrial hygiene project support, baseline exposure assessments, chemical safety management, exposure control evaluations, beryllium hazard control, confined space entry, respiratory protection and other PPE evaluations.
Your primary responsibilities will be to provide professional expertise and experience by applying client procedures, policies, and relevant regulatory requirements to help ensure that work is conducted safely and compliantly. The professional is expected to use and apply standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques as recognized within the industrial hygiene and safety profession to resolve an assortment of problems of moderately and complex scopes where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. You will use professional judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action and achieve client objectives.
Typical assignments will include:
Conduct technical operational IH and safety reviews and inspections to determine deficiencies, report results, and recommend corrective actions. Conduct reviews and interpretations of IH and safety standards, manuals, reports and other formal written communications and compares to institutional and/or local requirements and guidance for compliance.
3. Evaluate work activities and recommend controls.
4. Participate in the planning, development, presentation, and assessment of IH and safety training.
5. Perform analysis of data to identify adverse trends and recommend hazard reduction actions.
6. Participate in the investigation of off-normal events and injury/illnesses to determine causation factors, recommend corrective actions, and develop lessons learned.
7. Review site plans, designs and specifications for new or modified operations and facilities to ensure compliance with standards.
8. Assist workers in implementation of IH and safety requirements by reviewing operations, identifying and evaluating hazards, reviewing integrated work documents (IWDs) and associated operating procedures to ensure hazards are appropriately identified and controlled, participating in pre-job walk-downs prior to commencement of work, and conducting periodic oversight to ensure work is conducted in accordance with IWDs.
9. Perform IH field measurements and evaluations, and reports results.
10. Writes technical reports based on the interpretation of data, observations, and current regulations.
11. Make recommendations for changes in the work environment based on interpretations and principles of professional practices.
12. Understand and adhere to all client and industry regulatory requirements specific to industrial hygiene and safety.
13. Ensure all work, materials, processes and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.

Arcadis is seeking an Industrial Hygiene & Safety Professional to be located in our Irvine office. This role will be a seller/doer, with more of an emphasis on client marketing, developing relationships, and growing the EHS&S practice with clients in the Southern California areas as well as other clients nationally and internationally.
Role accountabilities:
* Market, sell, develop, manage, and conduct a wide variety of industrial hygiene and safety services in the Southern California-area as well as throughout the country consisting of chemical exposure assessments, health and safety audits, noise surveys, asbestos, lead-paint, hazardous building materials, IAQ/mold consulting services and a variety of other compliance work
* Interfacing with external and internal ARCADIS clients to ensure on time and satisfactory performance on projects
* Oversee the preparation of high-quality project proposals, reports and deliverables; coordinate and conduct the necessary review of project documents with in-house consultants, client representatives, contractors and others required to work as a team on projects.
* Experience in a client-oriented consulting environment with focus on industrial hygiene practice, specifically Asbestos, lead-paint, and hazardous building materials management, chemical and noise exposure assessments, and indoor air quality and mold evaluations, and ventilation system assessments.
* Desire to mentor subordinate staff and educate internal and external clients about our IH&S practice
