Our Temporary Department has many positions that fit a variety of schedules. From a few hours a week, to a full 40 hour work load- we have nannies who do it all! Positions start at $21 per hour with the opportunity of overtime pay when applicable. The more you work, the more you can earn. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 11 locations throughout New York City.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Provides trauma informed care, including guidance in intellectual, emotional and social growth to children residing within a transitional domestic violence shelter.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and nurtures children while they are in the program either on site or virtually
- Provides safe, friendly and educational environment for the children while their parents attend off- and on-site appointments
- Provides coverage/services for all programs in the Children and Family Services program
- Keeps children clean and change pampers of infants and toddlers
- Prepares children's meals and maintains meal counts
- Trains and coaches children toward independence
- Consults with parents regarding their children's day-to-day progress and behavior
- Maintains attendance and other relevant documentation
- Enters data regarding children's attendance and services into Salesforce tracking system
- Participates in Sarah Burke House special events as appropriate to position
- Perform any other department or agency related duties or special
- Sensitivity to domestic violence issues
- Knowledge of age appropriate activities
- Ability to establish rapport and trust with children
- Ability to multitask
- First Aid/CPR certified or able to obtain certification
- Ability to nurture infant, toddler and pre-school age children
- Ability to be warm and receptive to parents and children
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
Budgeted Salary: $20.00 Hourly
