The Role:

Instrumentation Operations (IO) is part of the Engineering Organization within Pratt & Whitney (P&W). IO is responsible for instrumentation planning and test execution of development jet engine systems. IO is comprised of the disciplines needed to instrument P&W engines, located in our Middletown, CT and West Palm Beach, FL facilities.

Instrumentation Operations is looking for both Applied Sensor & Outer Diameter (OD) Dress Engineers to support all Pratt & Whitney military, commercial and industrial development engine programs. Instrumentation Operation Engineers design and oversee execution of all applied instrumentation tasks for test engines in three major areas: Instrumentation Planning and Egress Design, Sensor Applications and Assembly Support, and Engine Instrumentation Dress and Termination. Instrumentation Operations Engineers are an integral part of the Engine Integrated Product Teams and must be able to handle rapidly changing requirements in a fast-paced development atmosphere.Key Responsibilities:

+ Interface with instrumentation requestors, assembly/test engineers and other validation customers

+ Create instrumentation installation, routing / egress plans and work instructions

+ Coordinate and oversee part level instrumentation installs as well as instrumented engine assembly by hourly, salary and outsource sensor applications technicians

+ Coordinate and oversee Outer Diameter (OD) Dress installs and routing of instrumented engine assembly by hourly technicians

+ Work with Egress and data recording engineers to ensure egress plans are executed and achieve smooth engine handoffs to the data recording and test team

+ Identify improvements to Engineering Standard Work (ESW) during execution of assigned tasks

+ Use of CORE to identify opportunities to improve tools, methods and processes used by all Instrumentation Cell Sensor Engineers

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

+ Minimum 2 years prior related experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field

+ US Citizenship required due to US Government contracts, and the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Knowledge of pressure, temperature, strain, and vibration sensors and/or Sensor Applications experience highly preferred

+ Experience in development of gas turbine engines and engine part repair validation processes preferred

+ Excellent organization, communication, and project management skills

+ Good interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment

+ Some travel may be required depending on the assignment and program responsibilities

Lockheed Martin's Advanced Development Program is looking for someone to join the historic Skunk Works™\. The selected candidate will be responsible for instrumentation operations on a classified Advanced Development Program\.

The candidate will be responsible for installation, integration, and operational support activities\. This includes working with instrumentation design engineers, released engineering documents, writing work instructions, supporting airworthiness documentation, monitoring fabrication activities, and supporting aircraft checkout and flight operations\. The applicant will be the engineering liaison for flight test and instrumentation modification activities\.

The candidate should be familiar with integrating and troubleshooting various sensors in data acquisition systems\. This position will be responsible for ensuring recorded data is correct\.

This position will require travel and odd, weekend or overtime shift work on an as\-necessary basis\. Potential relocation to Las Vegas after integration\.

**Basic Qualifications:**

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics or Computer Engineering or equivalent

• Experience with instrumentation systems and sensor integration

• On\-aircraft integration & troubleshooting experience

• Experience with the use of tools including multi\-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other common lab test equipment

**Desired Skills:**

• Experience with flight line operations

• Experience work integration on the manufacturing floor

• Experience integrating / troubleshooting data acquisition systems for air vehicles

• Experience with general electronics and electronics troubleshooting techniques

• Using MATLAB, and various CAD programs such as Capital, Catia, Autocad, etc\.

• Using general test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers

• Understanding of IRIG 106

• Avionics bus protocols including Mil\-Std\-1553, ARINC\-429, IEEE 1394, Ethernet and Fiber Channel

• GPS and IRIG time standards

• Video protocols and compression

• The applicant must have excellent organizational and communications skills

• Experience with Systems Engineering practices and concepts is desired

• Experience with or knowledge of calibration methods for test and evaluation of both mechanical measurements and electronic sensors

• Skilled in the conversion of digital data sets to engineering units and interpretation of data for validity and error determination

• Familiarity with military aircraft technical data, maintenance practices, flight operations, military stores and munitions is a plus
