The Role:
Instrumentation Operations (IO) is part of the Engineering Organization within Pratt & Whitney (P&W). IO is responsible for instrumentation planning and test execution of development jet engine systems. IO is comprised of the disciplines needed to instrument P&W engines, located in our Middletown, CT and West Palm Beach, FL facilities.
Instrumentation Operations is looking for both Applied Sensor & Outer Diameter (OD) Dress Engineers to support all Pratt & Whitney military, commercial and industrial development engine programs. Instrumentation Operation Engineers design and oversee execution of all applied instrumentation tasks for test engines in three major areas: Instrumentation Planning and Egress Design, Sensor Applications and Assembly Support, and Engine Instrumentation Dress and Termination. Instrumentation Operations Engineers are an integral part of the Engine Integrated Product Teams and must be able to handle rapidly changing requirements in a fast-paced development atmosphere.Key Responsibilities:
+ Interface with instrumentation requestors, assembly/test engineers and other validation customers
+ Create instrumentation installation, routing / egress plans and work instructions
+ Coordinate and oversee part level instrumentation installs as well as instrumented engine assembly by hourly, salary and outsource sensor applications technicians
+ Coordinate and oversee Outer Diameter (OD) Dress installs and routing of instrumented engine assembly by hourly technicians
+ Work with Egress and data recording engineers to ensure egress plans are executed and achieve smooth engine handoffs to the data recording and test team
+ Identify improvements to Engineering Standard Work (ESW) during execution of assigned tasks
+ Use of CORE to identify opportunities to improve tools, methods and processes used by all Instrumentation Cell Sensor Engineers
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
+ Minimum 2 years prior related experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field
+ US Citizenship required due to US Government contracts, and the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of pressure, temperature, strain, and vibration sensors and/or Sensor Applications experience highly preferred
+ Experience in development of gas turbine engines and engine part repair validation processes preferred
+ Excellent organization, communication, and project management skills
+ Good interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment
+ Some travel may be required depending on the assignment and program responsibilities
