Position Overview:

This individual will provide development for applications and interfaces, and work in close collaboration with stakeholders to provide interface development. This position will support, maintain, and develop HL7 Interfaces utilizing the Cloverleaf Interface Engine. The Interface Specialist/Analyst will evaluate user requirements for interface development and enhancements; design, develop, support and maintain interfaces in a complex and heterogeneous IT environment. Other duties will include, developing and maintaining interface support documentation and providing support to various IT related projects as needed. This position requires an accomplished technology background in clinical application development and implementation, as well as strong clinical business sense.


Essential Functions :

a) Designs and develops HL7 interfaces, managing the entire cycle of interface application development, including analysis, design, specification, configuration, install and implementation, testing, golive, and support and monitor

b) Works with interface engine developers to develop datatranslation routines and methods to support the hospital EHR Systems' and external systems' data and format needs

c) Provides day to day support for interfaces including proactive support and monitoring.

d) Ensures delivery of interface on time and meeting scope and quality expectations

e) Implements, optimizes, and supports medical device integration across the Montrose Memorial Hospital, Inc. organization. Examples of device integrations that the team is responsible for includes Monitors, Anesthesia machines, lab devices, fetal monitors, and infusion pumps.

f) Understands and configures 3rd party middleware and interfaces, such as Iatric and Cloverleaf.

g) Analyzes, extracts, and formats external systems data in order to bring that data into the hospitals' systems

h) Collaborates with clinicians, integration team, bio med engineers, networking, and application teams. Works with stakeholders to diagnose and resolve interface and application issues.

i) Consults with Clinical Informatics Analysts on application system features and functionality, will perform Analyst duties when not working on interfaces.

j) Supports HeathyPlanet, MyChart, CareEverywhere, Health Information Exchanges, public health and clinical data registries, Quality Health Network interfaces

k) Translates interface user requirements into functional technical specifications and configure applications to meet these to achieve business purposes.

l) Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains programs

m) Investigates and identifies systems changes or new applications required

n) Analyzes and corrects reported production systems performance problems and documents any changes made

o) Work with System Data Analyst to define, design and build reports to meet interface-related business needs

p) Provides on-call support

q) Prepares and maintains technical documentation used in supporting the system

r) Develops collaborative partnerships across departments to achieve results and improve performance

s) Provides backup to Clinical Informatics analysts as needed

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education:

Associates required, Bachelors highly desired

3 5 years' experience in the healthcare field, RN preferred.


b) Skills

2 or more years working with interface engines preferred

Knowledge of clinical applications and systems (Practice Management Systems, Lab Information Systems, Radiation Systems, Electronic Heath Record Applications) and HL7 standards

Vendor and Contract Management experience

Excellent analytical and technical troubleshooting skills

Ability to communicate with other professionals

Strong project management experience

Ability to lead small project teams and work collaboratively on a project team

ITIL certifications a plus
