Senior Automation Engineer

Overview:


Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our SEL Engineering Services (SEL ES) team. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, testing, and commissioning automation projects for our customers, utilizing real-time logic controllers and communication equipment.
Responsibilities:

* Work alongside Project Managers, Technical Leads, and Engineers to plan and execute automation projects

* Provide SEL equipment expertise and recommendations for future and active projects

* Define and oversee the execution of multiple objectives with minimal guidance

* Research SEL equipment, third-party equipment, and solutions

* Develop OT network solutions, including Layer 1, Layer 2 Architecture, and Applications Data Flow

* Mentor project teams and teach others in their disciplines

* Review and certify deliverables for quality standards prior to customer submittal

* Technical lead of the project engineering team, defining deliverables, schedule, and project execution from design through commissioning

Qualifications:

* Minimum of 5+ years working on SEL equipment

* Past work history or equivalency to meet position description and skill requirements

* Understanding of project engineering scope in relation to project budget (labor and equipment)

* Ownership of schedule and self-starter for research

* Professional communication skills to be the direct technical contact for customers and colleagues

* Designing of control logic schemes and network configurations

* Experience with industry standard communication protocols (IEC-61850, DNP, Modbus, etc.) * Experience with server/client SCADA applications

* Experience with design/development suite of HMI applications
