Event Security Team Member

Overview:
The University Police Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking applicants for its Event Security Team. As a member of this team, you will play a critical role in increasing the overall safety environment of campus by identifying and locating potential risks and hazards, and providing a sense of security and safety to the university community.
Responsibilities:

* Participate in training programs and apply basic security officer practices and procedures under the guidance of an Event Supervisor

* Identify and locate potential risks and hazards, and provide a sense of security and safety to the university community

* Record incidents and maintain accurate records

* Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with the public

* Demonstrate conflict resolution and organizational skills

* Exercise judgment under difficult situations with tact and diplomacy

Qualifications:

* Graduation from high school, vocational school, or equivalent

* College experience preferred

* Previous experience in the security field, event staffing, or public safety and community relations skills

* Valid driver's license and eligibility to drive a University-owned and/or leased motor vehicle

* Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and provide credible testimony in a court of law

* Ability to operate computers and specialized equipment
