Child Support Attorney I/II/III/IV

Overview:


The Kern County Department of Child Support Services is seeking a highly qualified Child Support Attorney to join our team. As a Child Support Attorney, you will be responsible for providing legal representation to the County in child support cases. This is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice.
Responsibilities:

* Provide legal representation to the County in child support cases

* Conduct legal research and analysis to support legal arguments

* Prepare and present legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs

* Represent the County in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and mediations

* Negotiate settlements and agreements with opposing parties

* Maintain accurate and detailed records of all cases and activities

* Collaborate with other County departments and agencies to achieve case goals and objectives

Qualifications:

* Level I: Must be licensed by the California State Bar

* Level II: Must have one year of experience in the practice of law

* Level III: Must have two years of experience as a practicing attorney in family and/or civil law

* Level IV: Must have three years of experience as a practicing attorney in family and/or civil law

* All levels: Must be licensed by the California State Bar; have the ability to travel to locations outside of the regular office to perform necessary legal services; have knowledge of the principals of law, trial procedure, and their application, including California Welfare and Institutions Code, Family Code, Civil Code, Code of Civil Procedure, Probate Code, Evidence Code, and Rules of Court; knowledge of legal research methods; ability to present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically; ability to maintain effective working relationships with others; knowledge of basic computer applications.
Benefits:

* Salary: Level I: $3,046.12 - $3,640.40, paid bi-weekly; Level II: $3,502.65 - $4,185.99, paid bi-weekly; Level III: $4,047.76 - $4,837.45, paid bi-weekly; Level IV: $5,015.96 - $5,994.54, paid bi-weekly
