Instructional Assistant - Substitute

Overview:
The Carlsbad Unified School District is seeking a substitute instructional assistant to provide on-call, day-to-day support to our schools. As a substitute instructional assistant, you will work under the supervision of teachers and staff to assist with instructional and non-instructional tasks.
Responsibilities:

* Assist teachers with classroom activities, such as preparing materials, setting up lessons, and supervising students

* Provide individualized support to students as needed

* Monitor student behavior and maintain a positive and safe learning environment

* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills

* Complete tasks and duties as assigned by teachers and school administrators

Qualifications:

* Meet standards outlined by the No Child Left Behind Act in one of the following ways:

+ Provide proof of completion of at least 48 semester units of study at an institution of higher education (college level) OR an associate's (or higher) degree

+ Pass an assessment provided by the Carlsbad Unified School District that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics

* Provide a valid tuberculosis clearance (less than 4 years old) and a valid First Aid and CPR certification (online certifications will be accepted)

* Ability to work on-call, day-to-day schedule
