Law Enforcement Officer

Overview:
The Law Enforcement Officer is a trainee position within the Department of Public Safety (DPS) that performs a variety of law enforcement and public safety functions. The successful candidate will work under close supervision in a division such as the Nevada Highway Patrol, State Fire Marshal's Office, Investigations, Parole & Probation, or Capitol Police.
Responsibilities:

* Perform law enforcement and public safety functions under close supervision

* Receive training in duties described in the series concept

* Progress to the next level in the series upon meeting minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority

* Work varied shifts, including holidays, swing, and graveyard shifts

* Perform accident investigation, DUI enforcement, K-9 units, and motorcycle patrol duties

* Transfer to any area office as personal or family needs change

Qualifications:

* Possess a Certification as a Category I Peace Officer from a Nevada P.O.S.T approved law enforcement academy

* Willing to work varied shifts and flexible assignments

* Ability to work anywhere in the state
