Primary Grade Assistant Teacher

Overview:


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary Grade Assistant Teacher to join our team at Our Lady of Mercy School in Potomac, Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to creating a safe, orderly, and Catholic learning environment for students.
Responsibilities:

* Assist in planning and delivering instruction to small groups and individual students in reading, math, and writing

* Foster and support Catholic beliefs, traditions, and practices in the classroom

* Assist in planning liturgical ceremonies and leading prayer in the classroom

* Coordinate instruction with the classroom teacher to create lesson plans that align with the Archdiocese of Washington Academic and Religious Standards

* Prepare instructional lessons, teaching aids, and materials for students

* Present subject matter under the direction of the classroom teacher

* Administer make-up work and assessments, and assist with grading and recording student work

* Support classroom management and enforce classroom procedures established by the classroom teacher

* Communicate with the classroom teacher and produce weekly reports on student progress

* Perform non-instructional duties such as carpool, recess, lunch, and classroom teacher substitution

Qualifications:

* Knowledge of child development and supervision

* High school diploma and some college or child care classes

* Knowledge of CPR
