Georgia Highlands College is a community college that offers accessible educational programs, including professional academics and transfer degrees. The school offers additional programs and services as well, including those more commonly seen at a university. GHC also offers a range of college life activities, which include numerous cultural, professional, recreational, religious and special interest student organizations and clubs. One of the most exciting offerings available at GHC is a study abroad program. The study abroad option, which is most common at four-year schools, allows students to travel to such countries as Greece and Italy and receive college credit in the process. GHC even offers extensive scholarship opportunities for study-abroad programs. GHC offers financial aid through federally funded sources like Pell grants and loans. They also offer various scholarships. These include a scholarship for students over age 25, scholarships for nursing students, scholarships for disabled students and academic scholarships. Those seeking admissions to most programs need simply fill out an application and submit transcripts or GED scores. Some programs, like nursing, have additional admissions requirements.
