    Athletics/Activities/Coaching Date Available: 11/2025 Description: Assistant Speech and Debate Coach will assist head coach in all facets of program, but primary focus for this position are Short-Preparation events, including Extemporaneous Speaking, Legislative Debate/Congressional Debate, and Impromptu Speaking. Season runs October 1-February 14th (or as determined by head coach), with additional time expected in late spring/early summer in the event of competitors qualifying for Nationals. Potential for splitting the position is an option if there are strong candidates who would want to specialize in a specific event or want to coach part-time. Qualifications: Prior competitive, coaching, teaching and/or civics experience preferred. Experience coaching Short-Preparation (Congress,Extemp, Impromptu) according to National Speech and Debate Association rules preferred. Must have, or be willing to obtain by start of season, valid first aid/CPR card. Our Season runs from Oct 1st- February 16th (or as designated by the head coach), with the potential of going to the National Tournament Iowa, in June 2025. Practices run Monday-Thursday from 3:45-6:00 pm. Qualifications: Preferred Candidates will have experience in coaching and/or competing in Speech events. Must hold current First Aid/CPR card and must provide a course completion certificate for each of the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course. Stipend: Level 3
