The Bilingual Mental Health/AODA Case Manager position works within the Outpatient Services program, providing robust comprehensive care and service linkage for people with mental health and/or substance use recovery. This includes direct services with clients and their systems, creating individually tailored recovery plans, assessments, and services to fit their needs.
The Bilingual Mental Health/AODA Case Manager is responsible for providing a wide array of culturally sensitive, recovery-oriented, trauma sensitive, direct clinical services to individuals with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring challenges. The Bilingual Mental Health/AODA Case Manager will work with a team of clinicians and therapists to meet the varied needs of clients.
The Bilingual Mental Health/AODA Case Manager reports directly to the assigned supervisor with overall program supervision provided by the Director. Minimum annual service hours are 1352.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Provision of Clinical Services (high responsibility, 90% effort)
Complete intake process and performs accurate assessments to initially evaluate mental health, as well as alcohol and other drug use issues in a culturally sensitive, recovery oriented, trauma sensitive manner.
Provides a range of clinical services in conjunction with program staff including outreach, assessment, treatment planning, referral, and case management to enhance motivation and encourage meaningful, collaborative, and strengths-based goal planning in a context that is supportive of the consumer's culture, values, and perspectives.
Completes accurate clinical records including intakes, assessments, treatment plans and updates, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other information in a timely manner.
Maintain regular contact with consumer to a degree sufficient to support effective engagement to assist with making and evaluating progress.
Provide or obtain support and crisis/emergency services for consumers as appropriate.
Monitor the provision and quality of services provided and act as the liaison when new services/resources need to be sought or developed.
Other miscellaneous case management or care coordination duties as assigned by supervisor, based on clinical or programmatic needs.
Program and JMHC Participation (high responsibility, 10% effort)
Attends staff meetings, in-services and other program activities as requested.
Participates in JMHC committees, trainings and activities as directed and/or approved.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Education/Licensure
ESSENTIAL
Bachelor's degree in a related behavioral health field
Bilingual, and/or bi-cultural (Spanish).
Possession of a valid driver's license, a favorable driving record, adequate insurance (per state law), and access to a vehicle.
PREFERRED
Master's degree in a related behavioral health field
Licensure as an APSW, LPC-IT, or MFT-IT
Licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor in Training, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor.
Experience
ESSENTIAL
2 year's experience in related behavioral health field.
Must be able to become CCS (Comprehensive Community Services) certified
Commitment to work toward improving cultural sensitivity.
Strong commitment to principles of recovery and to facilitating consumer participation in treatment/service planning and provision.
Knowledge and/or experience with the use of evidence-based practices for treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
Experience in community-based mental health and substance abuse assessment, case management, treatment planning and crisis resolution.
Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team with a positive and creative attitude.
Ability to work independently with highly developed organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Superior ethics and interpersonal boundaries as evidenced by experience in community-based work with related professional references.
PREFERRED
Fluent in American Sign Language.

The clinician will lead both individual and group sessions, teaching skills in affect regulation, relaxation, challenging maladaptive thoughts, and problem-solving. Client Assist in Conducting Intake Assessments: Support the intake process by gathering relevant information about clients' backgrounds, presenting issues, and treatment history.

The Outpatient Counseling Services program provides individualized therapeutic support to individuals seeking assistance with mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, and substance use disorders. Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Client Support and Counseling
Assist in Conducting Intake Assessments: Support the intake process by gathering relevant information about clients' backgrounds, presenting issues, and treatment history.
Co-Facilitate Therapy Sessions: Under supervision, lead individual or group counseling sessions, using therapeutic techniques learned during training (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy).
Observe and Document Client Interactions: Record and maintain detailed notes on client progress, treatment plans, discharge, and any significant developments.
Follow Treatment Plans: Ensure that clients' treatment plans are followed, making any necessary adjustments in collaboration with the client and supervising counselor.
Provide Psychoeducation: Educate clients or groups on mental health topics, coping strategies, stress management, and mental wellness.

3. Case Management
Collaborate with Other Professionals: Work with psychiatrists, social workers, or other professionals to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for clients.

Crisis Management: Respond to immediate needs, like suicide prevention or managing acute distress, by following proper protocols under supervision.

Interns are encouraged to practice organizing clinical data into clear frameworks, using theoretical models (e.g., psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, person-centered) to explain and predict client behavior. Case conceptualization includes analyzing patterns, identifying key interventions, and considering potential barriers to treatment, all while integrating clinical knowledge with the specifics of each client's situation. Supervisors often provide feedback on case conceptualizations to help interns refine their diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
7. Ethical and Legal Compliance
Follow Ethical Guidelines: Ensure adherence to the ethical standards set by professional organizations like the American Counseling Association (ACA) or the American Psychological Association (APA).
