Dr. Blauwkamp, a co-founder of Karius, is a biomedical scientist with 15 years experience managing and conducting research in molecular biology, regenerative medicine, and next-generation sequencing. He was previously Head of Molecular Biology at Moleculo, where he ran scientific research and lab operations until the company’s acquisition by Illumina. He continued to lead a technology development group within Illumina, creating new genomics tools and authoring several patent applications.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Bercovici has been developing novel mathematical models and algorithms that address broad challenges in genetics and the study of human disease, with immediate implications for preventive and therapeutic solutions. Prior to Karius, Dr. Bercovici was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Lifecode, where he led the development of Lifecode’s analytical platform and validation of several clinical assays based on next-generation sequencing. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

Bradley A Perkins is a Chief Medical Officer at Karius, Exec VP:Strategy/Chief Transformation Ofcr at VANGUARD HEALTH SYSTEMS INC, and Chief Medical Officer at Human Longevity Inc. He has worked as Deputy Dir:Office of Strategy at CDC, Chief:Office of Strategy & Innovation at CDC, and Chief Strategy & Innovatn Ofcr at CDC. Bradley attended Emory University and University of Missouri.

Steve has over 30 years of experience in the diagnostic, biotech, pharma, and technology industries, and was most recently the General Counsel at Dascena, Inc., a machine learning diagnostic company. Prior to Dascena, he was a co-founder and CEO of Kota Biotherapeutics, and held leadership roles at Intellectual Ventures, Ceptyr, Inc., and Immunex Corp. Steve also served as a patent attorney for multinational pharmaceutical company Hoffman La-Roche, an attorney in private practice, and a process engineer at Raychem Corp. Steve holds a JD from Santa Clara University Law School and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Meredith brings a blend of scientific and business acumen to drive strategic growth. With a background in neurobiology and extensive experience at McKinsey & Company, Meredith integrates scientific, technical, clinical, and commercial insights to shape Karius's strategy. She has led product development, business development initiatives, and investor relations, contributing significantly to the company's advancement in innovative diagnostic technology. Meredith holds a Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Behavior from UC Irvine, where she developed pioneering disease models and published extensively. Her leadership at Karius continues to transform healthcare by expanding access to cutting-edge diagnostics.

Bill has over 20 years of financial expertise, including extensive experience raising capital for growth organizations. Prior to joining Karius, he helped build the finance team at Freenome, an innovative liquid biopsy company. Before moving into the diagnostics industry, Bill was an award-winning equity analyst at RBC Capital Markets and Piper Sandler, leading its healthcare research team. He also helped raise nearly $8B in growth capital for top Diagnostics and Life Science Tools companies during his tenure on Wall Street. Bill completed his MBA at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and holds the CFA designation.

Mickey co-founded Karius in 2014 to bring the pathogen detection technology he and colleagues developed at Stanford closer to the bedside. Prior to that, he was the CEO and co-founder of Moleculo, a long-reads DNA sequencing company, which was acquired by Illumina in late 2012. Mickey earned an MS in computer science from Tel Aviv University and a PhD in computational biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science. He went on to complete his postdoctoral work in bioengineering at Stanford University, where he developed novel methods for investigating the genetic diversity of human viruses.
