Labeling machine operator job description

Work 4 10 hour days in the summer with Fridays off!

Core hours are Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with overtime likely during our fall/winter peak season.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Auto Label Attacher sets up, operates troubleshoots and maintains all equipment in the label attaching process by performing the following duties:

· Reading and interpreting work orders to determine and confirm exact set up specifications to ensure job meets quality requirements.

· Set up, operate, troubleshoot and maintain all equipment in the Label Attacher process.

· Inspect and pack product before advancing to shipping or other departments.

· Ensure all color-coded folders are in correct sequence.

· Produce “re-make” labels on the computer.

· Performs the necessary repairs on defective products as required.

· Maintains machinery in working condition by performing routine and scheduled maintenance.

· Troubleshoot and make machinery adjustments.

· Loads and unloads product and materials onto machine.

· Print and label packaging containers with correct ID labels.

· Produce expected levels of throughput.

· Train new operators as needed.

· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 2 years machine operation in a manufacturing environment. Good hand-eye coordination. Must have a keen eye for color. Must be able to use hand tools. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance. Must be able to work independently. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with an ever-changing number of variables relating to fasteners, labels and folders. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, or schedule form. Must have the ability to read and interpret a ruler. Basic computer experience required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Function:

+ Sets up and operates collating and/or labeling/patching machines to produce value added enhancements to in-process work.

+ Review specifications and set up equipment that perform forms collating from web rolls, label affixing, or window patching to printed or in-process materials specific to the customer's requirements.

+ Equipment operated may perform functions related to assembling and perforating signatures, stapling, gluing, folding, or cutting sheets of paper, forms, or signatures in specified sequence to form completed sets or die cut and apply labels or films to paper substrates.

+ Perform safety inspections, document problems, and track production during operation.

Required SkillsRequired Experience

+ Previous experience in an manufacturing or printing environment preferred

+ Reasoning . Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

+ Mathematics . Ability to read, copy and record figures. May involve simple addition and subtraction.

+ Ability to compare similarities and differences between words, codes, and series of numbers.

+ Ability to operate a computer at a basic to intermediate level.

+ Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Physical Demands: Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Hearing protection and safety toed shoes required constantly.

Monte Package Company, a division of Bunzl, is hiring a Label Machine Operator to load and/or unload the labeling machine and pack products in cartons ensuring the count. This position will be responsible for correctly stamping/marking the cartons and sending them on to the sealer.

+ Must be able to work in an environment of varying temperatures
