Established in 1999, Accurate Diagnostic Labs prides itself in providing the highest level of customer service and quality assurance. Currently, Accurate Diagnostic Labs is looking for a Laboratory Technical Supervisor.
Technical
• Oversees the performance of laboratory testing and operations on the assigned duty shift.
• Demonstrates technical competence in their area of specialty and responsibility.
• Spends an adequate amount of time in the laboratory to supervise the technical performance of the staff and is readily available for personal or telephone consultation.
• Ensures completion of technical work on a timely basis.
• Resolve specimen problems.
• Ensure the performance and recording of quality control, maintenance, temperature records and corrective action logs as necessary
• Monitor control lot-to-lot validation: track sequestered lots and ensure lot change documentation is completed prior to use of a new lot.
• Ensure inter-instrument comparisons are complete and timely.
• Participate in the introduction of new tests and the assessment of new instrumentation and methods.
• Review SOPMs in conjunction with the Technical and Medical Directors and contribute to updates of procedures.
Personnel
As necessary:
• Participate in the hiring process of appropriate, qualified employees.
• Advise management regarding appropriate staffing needs.
• Monitor the training of employees.
• Effectively schedule the hours and days of work of employees and assign their job duties.
• Ensure adequate coverage, in the supervisor’s absence, for all responsibilities listed, and communicate the assignments to management. The individuals covering must meet all applicable requirements for the tasks assigned.
• Ensure the technical competency of employees using a standard competency assessment six months after hire and annually thereafter.
• Complete annual employee performance assessments for annual reviews.
Administrative
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
• Adhere to Patient Confidentiality requirements.
• Participate in Lab Continuing Education.
• Attend all Safety Continuing Education.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
The supervisor must meet the requirements for a Laboratory Supervisor as defined in NYS 10 NYCCR Part 58 Section 58 – 1.3.
At minimum, the supervisor
• Is a physician licensed to practice in New York or an individual who has earned a doctoral degree from an accredited institution with a chemical, physical or biological science as his major subject (Section 58 1.4 (a)) or;
• holds a degree of master of arts or master of science from an accredited institution with a major in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and, subsequent to graduation, has had at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience of which not less than two years have been spent working in the designated laboratory specialty or;
• is qualified as a medical technologist pursuant to the provisions of section 58-1.5(b) of this Subpart and has had at least six years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctoral level

The laboratory supervisor oversees operations of the technical section(s). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; managing staff and workflows, maintaining policies and procedures, performing staff competency assessments, monitoring statistics and test utilization, fiscal responsibility, complying with regulatory standards and maintaining accreditation, and human resource management according to Essentia Health guidelines.
