Description

This position is in Rancho Cordova, CA. The Field Survey Technician works under the direct supervision of an experienced and licensed Professional Land Surveyor. The Field Technician will have an opportunity to learn and improve their skills while working with experienced staff, using the latest technology in field equipment. Assist with daily responsibilities in the preparation of boundary topographic and construction surveys.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in the land surveying field.
  • 2+ years of construction staking experience.
  • Boundary topographic survey experience.
  • Construction staking experience is desirable.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and GPS a plus.
  • Solid math skills, Team Player Attitude, Desire to Learn and Grow.
  • Ideal candidate will have LSIT

Responsibilities

The Survey Technician will support in preparing for construction staking, ALTA surveys, subdivision maps, records of survey, and certificates of compliance.

S&ME is currently seeking a Land Survey/Geomatics CAD Technician, who will have the ability to work remotely, to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee. The selected candidate will join a successful, busy team of surveyors, engineers, environmental professionals, geologists and planners in support of public and private sector projects throughout Tennessee and surrounding states.


What is the job?
Your responsibility will be to work with professional staff engaged in various duties including processing field data, troubleshooting field data, performing deed and utility research, running traverse closures, reducing level notes, and finalize survey drawings. Essential functions and responsibilities include:
Read and interpret survey maps, construction plans and utility plans; Perform QA/QC checks on work performed; Compute, process, and map field data in an organized manner; Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects; Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.


Requirements:
5-7+ years' minimum CAD experience within land surveying. Carlson Software experience. Ability to work extended hours to meet project deadlines. Good basic math skills related to surveying, good verbal and written communication skills. Motivation to follow instructions completely and accurately.


Preferences:
Proficiency with GPS, Robotic Total Station and Data Collection equipment.

San Bernardino County land survey technician job description

The Land Use Services Department is recruiting for Land Use Technicians who process a variety of planning, building, and other development related permit applications, provide information to the public, and perform field investigations for the Department. Incumbents in this classification review development and construction plans for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to regulations; may travel to field sites to gather, research, or verify information; research and compile legal, statistical, demographic, environmental, and historical data; and write reports for a land use team. Additionally, postions may process a variety of special use permit applications. These applications are related to allowed residential/commercial activities and ensure continued compatibility with surrounding properties.

The eligible list may be used to fill vacancies in all divisions throughout the County as they arise. Candidates willing to work in the high desert are especially encouraged to apply.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment and must be maintained. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE (must meet one of the following Options):

Option 1: One (1) year of full-time experience processing permit applications for, or enforcing, code compliance related to land use, building, construction, fire, environmental, or other code regulations, which includes explaining related regulations and requirements to the public.

Option 2: One (1) year of full-time experience with primary responsibility for reading and interpreting real property parcel maps for the purpose of identifying specific property and determining allowable use and ownership; experience must include title searches.
