General Summary
Leads a team of Instrumentation & Electronics Technicians in the repair, maintenance and installation of electronic and pneumatic equipment.
Essential Functions
+ Insures that electronic and pneumatic instrumentation used in various WSSC Water facilities is functioning properly
+ Uses industrial test equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters, manometers and oscilloscopes and specialized test equipment made by the respective equipment suppliers to monitor and calibrate instrumentation systems
+ Develops, directs, and participates in an instrument preventive mainte nance program
+ Assigns and directs subordinate personnel engaged in extensive instru ment repairs, modifications or installations
+ Investigates reports of equipment malfunction and takes necessary corrective action
+ Tests the effects of environmental conditions including vibration, temperature, pressure and related factors
+ Maintains data on testing, calibration, and repairs of all instruments under his/her purview
+ Writes instructional material to document modifications to instruments or maintenance routine
+ Confers with manufacturer's representatives to determine reasons for problems and possible remedial actions
+ Provides input as to the reliability of current and/or new instruments to be used in future facilities
+ Prepares record drawings of modifications to existing systems

Position Summary Information
General Summary
Leads a team of Instrumentation & Electronics Technicians in the repair, maintenance and installation of electronic and pneumatic equipment.
Essential Functions
+ Insures that electronic and pneumatic instrumentation used in various WSSC Water facilities is functioning properly
+ Uses industrial test equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters, manometers and oscilloscopes and specialized test equipment made by the respective equipment suppliers to monitor and calibrate instrumentation systems
+ Develops, directs, and participates in an instrument preventive mainte nance program
+ Assigns and directs subordinate personnel engaged in extensive instru ment repairs, modifications or installations
+ Investigates reports of equipment malfunction and takes necessary corrective action
+ Tests the effects of environmental conditions including vibration, temperature, pressure and related factors
+ Maintains data on testing, calibration, and repairs of all instruments under his/her purview
+ Writes instructional material to document modifications to instruments or maintenance routine
+ Confers with manufacturer's representatives to determine reasons for problems and possible remedial actions
+ Provides input as to the reliability of current and/or new instruments to be used in future facilities
+ Prepares record drawings of modifications to existing systems
+ Solves difficult problems of tolerance, component failure and the like on level indicators/controllers, flow indicators/controllers, current indicators, controller, temperature indicator/controller, PH, turbidity, and chlorine residual meters
+ Maintains automated control processors including program changes needed to change set points or functional operation of system
+ Assists in maintaining the spare parts inventory
+ Drives a vehicle to conduct WSSC Water business

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
+ Thorough knowledge of elec tronics theory and of the methods and practices of electronic and instrumentation equipment repair
+ Thorough knowledge of the functioning and maintenance of process control instrumentation and electronic equipment
+ Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
+ Ability to investigate and develop solutions for difficult technical problems
+ Ability to read instrumentation data accurately and to create and maintain documentation records
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
+ High School diploma or equivalent
+ 8+ years experience as an Instrument/Electronic Technician that includes:
+ 4+ years experience with advanced process control
+ Using industrial test equipment (such as digital multi-meters and HART protocol programming software) to monitor and calibrate instrumentation systems
+ Servicing equipment such as level indicators/controllers, flow indicators/controllers, current indicators/controllers, temperature indicator/controllers, and analytical instrumentation
+ Maintaining records on testing, calibration and repairs of instruments
+ Maintaining automated control processors including assisting in programming changes needed to change set points or functional operations of systems
Additional Requirements
+ Possession of a valid driver's license, with no more than 4 points, and the ability to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver's permit within 90 days of hire or transfer
+ Completion of the WSSC Water Financial Disclosure statement within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter
+ Employee is required to be a member of the Instrumentation call back/standby duty rotation
+ Employees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel; therefore, the employee must report to work as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor when WSSC Water declares an event that requires emergency personnel to report to work
