We are looking for a hardworking Mechanical Engineer to become a technical leader for the Military Space Advanced Program Development team\.

As the **Docking Port Deputy Mechanical Lead** for Space Security Advanced Programs, you will analyze, design, and prototype solutions for small satellite docking ports\. Space Security AP is on the leading edge of research and development for future space security systems, satellites, and payloads\. The team works with multiple customers to conduct studies and advance designs from initial concept to Milestone A or B working with other teams in Military Space to transition those systems into production\.

You will work closely with customers and program leaders to provide the best, unified solutions that meet overall performance, cost and schedule needs\! You will perform critical functions, including:
• Designing and prototyping docking ports

• Performing stress and dynamics analysis

• Communicating design and analysis data to spacecraft engineering team and LM program leadership

• Decomposing and deriving subsystem requirements to unit level requirements

• Working interactively with diverse engineering disciplines in a fast\-paced environment to rapidly deliver innovative solutions for proposals, IRADs, and customer funded projects

**Basic Qualifications:**

• Prior experience or knowledge or structural engineering and/or structural dynamics

• Familiarity with designing payloads to integrate/interface with host spacecraft

• Knowledge of or experience with requirements development

• Experience in mechanical engineering principles

• Experience with NX, CREO, IDEAS, Solid Works, or equivalent

• Ability to obtain TS/SCI with Poly; US citizenship is required

**Desired Skills:**

• Experience with this Space Security, Space Protection Programs, Special Programs, or another relevant program

• Experience working in the development phase of a Space program, preferably for the US Government

• Proficiency with one or more of the following engineering tools: ADAMS, NX Siemens, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, Mechanica, Composite Pro, CREO, Solid Works, IDEAS

• Prior experience with creating and maintaining Mechanical ICDs

• Design for test / design for manufacturing experience

• Familiarity with additive manufacturing

• Previous mechanism design experience

• Preparation and presentation of milestone design review packages

Eaton's Controls Power Conversion Division is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This position will be based at our Menomonee Falls, WI location. This position will have the option to work a hybrid (office/home) work schedule.

This role is responsible for the design, simulation, implementation and validation of mechanical components and assemblies associated with Eaton's power electronics components (VFD's etc.) applied in industrial motor starting applications. This position offers the opportunity for exposure to a variety of NPD related tools and technologies (simulation, advanced laboratory test equipment and others) as well as technical leadership together with customer and stakeholder facing experience.

Primary responsibilities will include both new product development and support of existing products and cost outs. This role will work within all phases of Eaton's new product development process to develop new products.

This position will reside in an Eaton divisional headquarters building, which houses engineering for multiple product lines as well as marketing, sales, finance, and R&D. The facility boasts an open office layout surrounded by large windows, as well as 50,000+ square feet of onsite state-of-the-art laboratory space. The division actively sponsors wellness and community involvement committees which organize team sports, company outings, and volunteer events throughout the Milwaukee area.

In this function you will:

* Design, validate & release mechanical/electro-mechanical portion of product designs by utilizing appropriate mechanical design tool
* Conduct simulation related to mechanical, electro-mechanical and thermal portion of design
* Direct and work with lab personnel to develop tests and perform testing to validate proper product functionality
* Establish and document new product requirements
* Utilize Eaton's NPD process as a framework for product development.
* Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, CE, IEC, etc.).
* Learn and apply Design for Six Sigma concepts
* Establish project and product cost estimates and time estimates.
* Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines to ensure project success

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institute.
* Two (2) years of experience designing electro-mechanical systems
* Knowledge and experience utilizing mechanical CAD design tools.
* No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Menomonee Falls, WI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Four (4) years of experience designing electro-mechanical systems related to solid state power electronics (housings, thermal bus/bar and heat sink designs).
* Knowledge and experience related to thermal simulation applied to power electronics.
* Experience and knowledge related to structured new product development processes.
* Knowledge related to pertinent agency and certification standards related to industrial motor starting (IEC, CE, UL)
* DFSS or DMAIC knowledge/certification.
* Knowledge and experience related to plastic part design and associated molding
* Knowledge and experience related to stamped part design and associated design for manufacturability/tooling.

* Ability to coordinate and communicate with other disciplines to ensure project success. Other disciplines include Marketing, Industrialization, Test Engineering, Designers, and Technicians.
