Position Overview:

The Non-Destructive Testing Level II MAG Inspector is qualified to set up equipment, test and interpret findings and evaluate results as per applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Should be familiar with technique limitations. Organize and report the results. Also, must be responsible to provide production and management support when required. NDT Level II MAG Inspectors report directly to the Quality Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to interpret drawing requirements
  • Understand inspection requirements as established through the RTC Aerospace
  • Identify weaknesses and imperfections in machine parts
  • Understand Specifications
  • Ability to use precision measurement instruments
  • Ability to complete documents, such as rejection tags
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of NDT Level II MAG inspection experience in an aerospace machining/manufacturing environment
  • Basic shop math
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications
  • Completion of inspection method and ASNT Certification Level II
  • Experience in machining and/or aerospace industry
  • Knowledge of ASTM E1444/E1444M,
  • Knowledge of BMF5202 Magnetic Particle Inspection Acceptance Criteria
  • Knowledge of any/all the following quality standards: MIL-I-45208A, 1SO 9001:2000, SAE AS9100, ISO:9000
  • Dimensional/surface plate experience
  • High school diploma

Purpose and Scope:
Inspects and reports on materials, processes and products using variable or attribute measuring instruments and techniques to assure conformance with the Sargent quality standards. Develops Inspection plans, Mentors and provides training for other inspectors as directed.


Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Promote Safety to all team members, Customers and Suppliers.
  • Perform , in-process and final inspections on complex machined parts and detailed final assemblies.
  • Perform receiving inspection on incoming product.

We have opportunities for Inspectors at all levels on day shift to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. This position will perform basic inspection activities of product, materials, first piece inspection and in-process monitoring as assigned. This position reports to the Value Stream Manager/Sr. Team Leader on work assignments to meet production schedules. The position will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Sr. Team Leader, Quality Assurance regarding quality issues.

The day shift hours are generally 7:00am-3:30pm for 8 hour shifts or 6:00am-3:30pm for 9 hour shifts. Kaman has great benefits, including vacation and paid holidays with a paid week shutdown at the end of the year.

All levels:

+ Perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. Perform first piece and in-process inspection in assigned value stream.

+ Identify defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blueprints and Kamatics' quality standards. Report non-conformance of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Supervisor and cell leader.

+ Use a variety of conventional and advanced inspection devices and other instruments to verify dimensions to drawing specifications.

+ Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures.

+ Maintain records, data and logs as necessar via computer files, etc

+ Provide leadership/training as needed. Ensure that production schedules are met.

+ Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.

+ Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contributes to 5S programs in work area.

Inspection B: All of the above responsibilities at a proficient level with the ability to

+ Identify and measure GD&T items (roundness, parallelism, concentricity, runout, perpendicularity, flatness, total runout)

+ Condut CMM operations to inspect product

+ Provide leadership and ensure production schedules are met.

Inspection A: All of the above responsibilities at a highly proficient level with the ability to:

+ Create inspection forms such as IMS, first article and other related forms.

+ Prepare products and related paperwork for presentation to customer or source inspection.

Education:

+ All levels required a high school degree or equivalent (GED)

Experience:

+ Inspector A - minimum of 4 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment or demonstrated equivalent expereince

+ Inspector B - minimum of 3 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing envionment or demonstrated equivalent experience

+ Inspector C - minimum of 1 year of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment or completion of an inspection trainee or certification program

Skills/Abilities Essential to the Position:

+ Shop math knowledge

+ Basic to expert knowledge of complex blueprints including a solid to deep understanding of GD&T

+ Ability to use basic precision instruments, to coordinated measuruing machines depending on position level
