Line School Underground Apprentice

Primary Purpose of the position: Perform duties related to the construction, maintenance and service of energized facilities in all phases of Underground transmission and distribution. This includes all new, scheduled, routine maintenance and emergency work.

NOTE: Following successful completion of line school employees will be placed through the PECO system based on business needs.

Major Accountabilities:

Responsibilities are related to the construction, maintenance and service of energized facilities in all phases of transmission and distribution equipment. Work includes work out of aerial equipment; work in confined and enclosed spaces and outside under all weather conditions; operation of various types of mechanized equipment and vehicles, and work on energized electrical equipment. Required to work emergency and storm situations and must be available for overtime and shift work. Required to perform glove-hand work as scheduled.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Ability to perform the following task in a Safe & Productive Manner:

1. Ability to work with molten solder & compounds (Training provided)

2. Perform work at heights of a ladder or from an aerial lift device

Yellow Corporation, along with all subsidiary companies,trains individuals interested in becoming Linehaul drivers and obtaining a Class A CDL at the Yellow Truck Driving Academies. Yellow's training programs are a US Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program. Academy classes meet 8-hours a day, 5-days a week for 4 weeks. While at the Driving Academy, **_students earn a wage for their training time and may be eligible for paid travel based on location_** **_._** After successful completion of the Driving Academy, students test for a Class A CDL with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.

The Yellow Driving Academies teach students skills to be the one of the safest drivers on the road. Our instructors, many with a million miles or more of safe driving experience, actively engage all students in the classroom, in the practice yard, and on the road. By joining Yellow, you attend our Best in Class Truck Driving Academy/Apprenticeship and enter a fulfilling, dynamic occupation.

Paid training is at $17.50per hour. Once you receive your Class A CDL you will increase significantly to a qualified driver's pay.
