Definition The City of Columbus, Columbus Water & Power, is seeking qualified applicants for a Laborer vacancy within the Dublin Road Water Plant. This part-time position will be responsible for facility grounds keeping, cleaning, and general maintenance. It will clean floors, buildings, grounds, equipment, piping, and vehicles; maintain tools and clean shop areas; be responsible for landscaping projects and snow removal; and repair and replace existing parts and/or structures around the inside and outside of the water plant. This position will work in hot and cold weather conditions. Laborers are also responsible for performing inspections, repairing, and clearing debris. This includes working on and around water. Laborers drive vehicles, complete simple reports as required by their supervisor, may operate hand tools such as drills and saws, assist maintenance crews in performing daily tasks as assigned, i.e., gather tools, equipment, and clean up after the job is completed. They also assist in the yearly washout of floc and basins using high-pressure hoses.Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing routine manual labor; performs related duties as required. Once the raw glass has been tempered in the oven our operators at the outfeed will unload and label all freshly tempered glass. Then prepare it to be delivered to the next department. Production Responsibilities Attend pre-shift meetings and give feedback Stack and sort glass on racks for the next step. Complete hourly SGCC quality tests at the furnace. Inspect quality with the line scanner and other visual aids. Tracking and managing daily incompletes and understand production goals and outputs. Communicate issues with your supervisor IE (Need to walk off the line); and report any safety concerns or incidents. Principle Duties & Responsibilities: Crease, pack, collate, operate fastener insertion machine(s), operate basic production tools (including but not limited to cutting and tabbing) and/or complete other assigned tasks required for the preparation, processing and packaging of products. Production quantity reports completed accurately Maintain productivity levels defined by supervisor. Help train new employees. Keep immediate work area clean and free of debris. Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment. Maintain positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Work overtime as required by supervisor to meet production demands and deadlines. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Dexterity, mobility, endurance, and hand-body coordination skills to complete assigned tasks and meet production requirements. Ability to lift 50 pounds is preferred. Ability to stay focused and on-task at all times. Loading Department Responsibilities Attend pre-shift meetings and give feedback Fill out crane logs daily. Locate and retrieve glass on the manifest that is missing from A frames or Harp Carts. Work with your loading crew to load glass on our truck by the manifest. (Last item loaded should be drivers first stop) Safely load trucks via hand, team lifting, or our overhead cranes. Properly and safely strap all glass to the trucks. Scan glass pieces to the digital manifest for the truck. Communicate issues with your supervisor IE (Need to walk off the line); and report any safety concerns or incidents. Wear safety gear on the floor at all times (kevlar pullover, helmet, glasses, pants, etc.). Operate and troubleshoot machinery in your department.
