Linux systems engineer job description

This position will primarily be responsible for managed file transfers in our datacenters and in the cloud. This includes developing and supporting widely used methods of file transfers, ciphers, securing file transfers and providing mission critical environment for file transfer services to internal and external users. The engineer will be responsible for production server deployments, system maintenance, performance testing, development of tools and utilities and migration of onprem file transfer services to the cloud. You'll work closely with talented Linux, Windows, Network, and Cybersecurity engineers and developers to ensure high availability of our services. You will be a part of the Linux Engineering Team and have the opportunity to be involved in large scale system architecture design & development.

Responsibilities:
Maintaining the overall stability and performance of Managed File Transfer System environment Tool development supporting automation of MFT internal workflows Interface with clients and vendors to implement reliable and secure solutions and troubleshoot issues Ensure that the MFT environment is up to date with versions and patches.Collaborate with security to perform periodic audits/reviews of MFT environment Cloud migration

Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with large managed file transfer environments and Linux system administration

Critical Skills:
Exposure to Linux Bash/Perl/other scripting or programming languages like PythonExperience in administration of Secure Transport & Managed File Transfer ServicesExcellent analytical and troubleshooting skills including packet captures to troubleshoot file transfer issues Good communication skills to be able to actively participate in vendor/client MFT discussions Member of 24x7 on-call rotation

Preferred Skills:
Proficient in administering and deploying Secure transport like Axway in large scale environments Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure Develop custom solutions for secure transport workflows to fit business requirements.Excellent communication skills in English, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, foreign equivalent or equivalent work experience required

Minimum Qualifications
3 years of experience in general workstation or server administration 3 years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its related services (Lambda, EC2, API Gateway, Route53, ECS, Elasticache, VPC, etc.) Firm grasp of Windows and Linux operating systems Proficiency with the entire Microsoft Office/365 suite of applications Expert-level grasp of at least one programming, automation, or scripting language (Terraform, PowerShell, Ansible, .NET/C#) Comfortable working with a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) platform like CircleCI or Jenkins Understands source code management (SCM) and is comfortable with Git (preferred), TFVC, or SVN. We are expanding our team of motivated engineers with a proven track record of delivering a best in class DBaSS platform - ObjectRocket. You will have the opportunity to work with a strong team of engineers working on large-scale distributed enterprise systems. You will design, implement and support complex architectural design of hardware, software and networking systems. At multiple team/product level, responsible for implementation of complex architectural design of hardware, software and/or networking systems.

Education

Physical Demands
General office environment. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. No special physical demands required. Schedule flexibility to include working a weekend day regularly and holidays as required by the business for 24/7 operations. Occasional travel, less than 10%.
