Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Under the general direction of the Supply Support Manager and Team Lead, assess, replenish and maintain unit supply rooms on a daily basis. Functions as a customer service liaison between individual units and Supply Support. Identify and resolve any discrepancies, problems or questions related to inventory and distribution process. Report status to Team Lead. Focus on customer service issues such as resolving customer inquiries related to Supply Support and maintaining positive working relationships with individual unit staff members. Collaborate with Nursing Unit staff members on planning, logistics, and supply continuity. Follows hospital, TJC, DPS, OSHA and CMS guidelines and procedures for supply stocking and rotation. The material handler may be present in secure medication storage areas and are allowed to handle and distribute medications supplied by the BWH materials management department. Perform other duties as assigned.

High School diploma preferred or GED required. Basic mathematical and reading skills. Must have general customer service and problem resolution skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to work in a fast paced and stressful environment. On feet most of 8 hour shift. Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) Must be able push/pull 400 lbs. using flat bed (manual); 800 lbs. using pallet jack (manual). Some hazards associated with soiled linen, needles.

Position Purpose:
Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks in the movement of solids and liquids. Under direct supervision, tasks could include all types of manual labor in cleaning and decontamination operations, vacuum projects and handling, packing, re-packing, unloading and loading containers for processing at site or transportation to appropriate facilities.

Overview
The Material Handler/Driver works daily to pick, stage and transfer material to/from production following internal processes and procedures for inventory control while adhering to safety and quality policies. Verify truckloads against shipping memos and packing lists, as appropriate.
Contact supervisor for decision in questionable cases.
Pad, stack and secure transportable goods in position to prevent damage and safety hazards.
Load and/or unload goods; may be assisted by a helper when loading or unloading.
Obtain truck helper's assistance in exiting the truck and follow his/her directions when backing up.
Insure that truck is maintained in a safe and properly working condition; check oil, water and fuel levels, tires, lights and brakes on a daily basis…at least twice a day…Pre and Post Trip Inspections.

Obtain safety, first aid or other relevant in-service training as required by supervisor.

What You'll Do as a Material Handler
* Safely and accurately process Customer products according to established procedures within FDA, ISO, and GMP guidelines.
* Utilize handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to transfer Customer product through the sterilization process.
* Load and unload Customer product manually or using automated equipment into the validated sterilization process.
* Place and retrieve monitoring devices on product to ensure proper sterilization levels.
* Comply with all health and safety requirements to work within facilities that utilize various industrial sterilization modalities; complete training and annual certification to use personal protective. equipment
* e.g., safety glasses, safety shoes, respiratory protection equipment (SCBA).
* Ensure safety and quality in all aspects of the job.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required
* High School Diploma or G.E.D.
* Minimum of one (1) year of warehousing, production, or manufacturing experience.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. - due to the physical nature of the job, requiring strength and endurance.
* Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate.
Preferred
* Prior experience operating forklift equipment.
