We have a current opening for a Machine Designer and if you desire a stable career path, we would love to speak with you!What You Will Be DoingProduce assembly and detail drawings within Mechanical Engineering as assigned by Mechanical Project Engineer (MPE). Responsible for supporting the project team with tasks provided by the MPE or Engineering Manager. They are responsible for understanding the scope, following engineering
processes, designing with in the budget and releasing to meet the schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Design and/or coordinate complete drawing package for approval and release including all engineering
BOMs and system details as directed by the MPE.
2. Design complete project/item/task package in accordance with customer requirements. Specifies
components and creates BOMs.
3. Review, verify, and correct own work prior to checking by others. Ensures that details and subassemblies fit together.
4. Revise drawings as required through detailing, manufacturing, or field changes.
5. Develop cost effective, standardized designs.
7. Understand the requirement when to apply FEA
8. Support Manufacturing and Service Departments during building and installation stages as required.
9. Support project, departmental, and business goals/objectives for design direction, quality, budget, and
schedule.
10. Consistently assures the accurate design of mechanical parts, details, and drawings.
11. Effectively research purchased parts to ensure good quality and evaluate delivery date to provide timely
delivery of machine.
12. Consistently aware of engineering cost and time budgets pursuant to job.
13. Understand and consistently adhere to standard operating procedures relating to this position.
14. Apply knowledge of safety and quality in all designs and assures proper release of completed BOMs to
production control.What You Need for this Position- Have a strong command of AutoCad Software
- Experience with Solidworks and powertrain is a must.
- Machine design experience
- Transmission assembly specific automotive experience
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of

Responsibilities:

• Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates medium assignments with the overall responsibility for budget adherence, quality control and inter-discipline coordination.

• Serves as a job captain on single discipline projects and may serve as a job captain on multi-discipline projects.
• Prepares or reviews construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.
• Writes scope of work for design based on preliminary review and meetings with the customer
• May be requested to perform project management functions.
• May assign and review work of project design team.
• Checks progress of work and alerts project manager to changes of scope or additional services.
• May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicate them to the team.
• May represent the firm in meetings and conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate a project.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or certification of completion of other post secondary training in engineering or architectural fields preferred.
• Minimum 15 years experience as a Designer with former employer(s).
• Prior experience in machine design, material handling equipment is required.
• Exposure to and familiarity of packaging equipment, ductwork systems, and fabrication weldments.
• AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor experience is required.
• Experience with Solidworks is a plus.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid driver's license required.

We are looking for a talented **Electric Machine Electromagnetics Design - Technical Advisor** to join our **Cummins- Advanced Electrification Technology Team** in **Columbus, IN, U.S**
**To be successful in this role you will need the following:**

+ Develop, design, simulate, and optimize electric machine in MotorCAD and/or ANSYS Maxwell. Compare and select from different motor topologies and technologies. Create C&E Matrices and investigate trade-offs between various e-machine design features to establish optimum solution for target requirements.

+ Be a local expert on e-machines in theory and practice with an understanding of costs in production. Familiarity with realistic cost trade-offs in design solutions, and create optimized solution considering the tradeoffs includes performance, cost, manufacturability, etc. for target application.

+ Be a local expert on e-machine model development. Establish relationship between theoretical model results and hardware test results to create Engineering Standards process-basis and familiarity with e-machines/systems. Help to build awareness of unique e-machine differences from legacy product (diesel engines) and establish known 'rules of thumb' for modeling and design practice.

+ Collaborate with power electronics and software team to develop electric solutions for commercial vehicles. Help to develop hardware-in-the-loop test benches for power electronics, motors, and controls. Help to integrate, test, and troubleshoot e-machines in electric- and hybrid-electric powertrains.

+ Leads the development and improvement of work processes in electric machine development cycles from requirements capture to prototype validation. Write reports to capture key learnings, techniques, methods necessary to optimize development cycle.

+ Operates as the recognized multi-competency specialist or expert in a discipline or product area across a site or global business unit. Provides problem resolution leadership for complex systems with a high degree of ambiguity and often global business impact. Coaches and mentors' other engineers, project managers and cross-functional team members.

+ Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

**Skills** :

+ Experience in an entire develop cycle from concept to production. Involvement in middle to high-speed motor design and manufacturing development is preferred.

+ Knowledge of various motor topologies (PM, Induction, Synch-Reluctance, Switched Reluctance, etc.). Strong understanding of different motor architectures and winding theory.

+ Knowledge of multi-phase electric machines, power electronics, and motor controls. Ability in building and modeling different electric machines for electrical and mechanical robustness in application.

+ Proficient in working with different simulation tools including Matlab/Simulink, Ansys/MotorCAD, CREO-CFD and thermal analysis tools.

**Education** :

+ Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required
