This is an experienced position to work in the Machinist Trade. Machinists primarily set-up and operate machine shop equipment including (but not limited to): lathes, radial drills, grinders, presses, punch presses, cut-off saws, milling machines, HBM, VTL, rolls, sheers, brakes, and burning machines.
Applicants hired into this position shall generally be able to operate most equipment with minimal training based on prior experience, including CNC operated equipment. Machinists may be assigned any of the Machinist Trade tasks.

Responsibilities and Duties
Produce quality parts on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes, Mill Turn, 3 Axis Milling, 4 Axis Milling, 5 Axis Milling
Load parts, prove tapes, operate controls, set offsets, perform edits, deburr and inspect
Study and interpret drawings, manuals, and specifications; determine dimensions and tolerances, perform sequence of operations and setup measurements
Interpret inspection data and make adjustments
Measure and mark dimensions and reference points for subsequent machining
Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media as required to ensure quality of production.
Communicate with supervisor, engineers, maintenance, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues

Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training desired.
2 year degree in Precision Machining, OR minimum of 2 years operating CNC machines such as lathes, milling, and mill turn machines within a controlled Mil-Aerospace or medical parts machining environment
Experience machining medium to high complexity work
Knowledge of programming language
Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and CMM experience

CNC Lathe Machinist II

Position Description
The CNC Machinist II would join a team of skilled professionals in our CNC Machining department, working on CNC lathe machines (Okuma), manual machines (Bridgeport and lathe), and on the bandsaw. Ongoing training is a key component of our continuous improvement mission. One must have the knowledge and ability to set-up machine, touch-off tools, edit G-code programs, and be able to read measuring instruments correctly as part of the daily duties. Being able to program new parts in G-code is a plus. We are looking for someone with good lathe experience but also the desire to learn vertical milling (Milltronics) when overloaded with work. The CNC Machinist would be working with other members of the manufacturing team on a regular basis (CNC machining, manual machining, bandsaw operations). Extensive ongoing training is a key component of our continuous improvement mission.
Responsibilities
• Operate CNC equipment in a low-volume, high-mix environment with multiple set-ups daily.
• Setting up and running machines in an efficient and productive manner.
• Responsible for part quality by utilizing visual and hand inspection equipment.
• Interact directly with leads, engineering, and CNC programmers.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and pieces on machines
• Proficient use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Stop machines to remove finished pieces or to change tooling, setup, piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
• Review program specifications and blueprints to ensure machine set up and operations meet specification for finished piece dimensions.
• Cross training on a variety of machines.
• May be requested to train new employees or employees designated to be cross trained
• Other duties, as assigned.

• Understanding of CNC programming in G-code and Mastercam.
• Math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent communication skills required to interact directly with Management, Engineering & Programming to collaborate on process improvements.
• Must be able to consistently stand for an entire 8-hour shift.
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Familiarity with lean and continuous improvement
• Knowledge of inspection equipment, such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges etc.

Education and Experience
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in a machine shop, Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials is a plus
