Successful bidder must attend training in areas relating to electrical safety such as arc flash. Must participate in and comply with all Safety, Good Manufacturing, and good housekeeping practices Repair and preventative maintenance on food manufacturing equipment Repair and preventative maintenance of non-production machinery and support equipment Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of failures regarding machinery, defects with equipment, and systems Assembles, installs, repairs, and tests equipment, wiring, fixtures, PLC controlled equipment, and air, gas, steam, water, and waste disposal systems Complete repairs to electronic circuitry, PLC's relays, timers etc to keep the machines at top efficiency Assist in making repairs to high and low pressure boilers systems Must use SAP to track work order, completion of work, parts and materials used and time spent on each job Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualification and Training Expectations
Completed at least one half of the Amatrol program already established and currently being used in B training programs. (26 Laps) If Amatrol has not been completed, then equivalent outside education and/or experience pertaining to the maintenance field will be considered.
Available for all shifts Bidder will be required to take a series of PMMI competency tests related to the electrical field administered by Penn College.Penn College will solely grade the tests taken by the bidder and then make recommendations on courses that the bidder needs to take.Based on test results the bidder will be required to attend training courses administered by Penn College. These courses will be taken on bidder's own time.Bidder will be required to successfully pass each course that they are enrolled in.It is possible that the bidder successfully passes each PMMI competency test and then will only be required to complete the OJT of 3-6 years.Bidder will be in B electrical training program for not more than 6 years. This timeframe could be shorter depending on how quickly candidate progresses through training.Bidder will be required to train in all areas established by the training committee. Some examples are the 3rd floor, 2nd floor canning, 2nd floor microwave, cooker room, 1st floor microwave and 1st floor label lines.Within each area established by the committee the candidate will need to prove that they can work on equipment and perform all duties associated with that area.Successful bidder must attend training in areas relating to electrical safety such as arc flash.

Ahern Rentals is looking for a dependable and efficient Class B Mechanic to join our dynamic team. Mechanics are precious commodities to Ahern Rentals. There is a true expectation that all equipment works properly and is maintained and safe.

This is skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of automotive and heavy-duty equipment. Incumbents are responsible for the performance of tasks in moderate repair of heavy automotive equipment and construction machinery. Heavy equipment mechanics repair and maintain heavy machinery used in construction projects and other similar activities. They are highly trained to work safely and assure that they can protect themselves from injury.

Qualifications for Class B Mechanic

May or May not include:

* Must have either a minimum of 2 years of High Reach mechanical experience or trade school training and 6 months of High Reach mechanical experience.
* Must have basic knowledge of power, electrical and hydraulic systems. They need to be able to check and adjust hydraulic pressures, run electronic self-diagnostic systems & diagnose engine problems.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
* Must be able to safely operate various types of High Reach equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts
* Must be able to wear safety fall protection, PPE, and are required to wear steel toe boots
* Must be able to follow directions.
* Must be able to work basic computer functions.
* Must have Minimum Class "B" Hand & power tools
* Basic welding skills preferred
* Must be able to properly use test equipment, gauges, meters & hand-helds
* Must be able to properly use parts manuals to obtain parts and order parts.
* Must be able to maintain a safe, reasonably clean, and organized work environment.
* Valid Driver's license and clean driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities for Class B Mechanic

May or may not include:

* Overhauls and repairs engines, disassembles engines, replaces defective parts, reassembles, and adjusts electric and fuel systems.
* Repairs and maintains heavy-duty and other construction machinery in the shop.
* Assigns duties to assistants (if applicable)
* Inspects work in progress to see that repairs and replacements are properly made and units are satisfactorily assembled.
* Does skilled repair work in installing timing gears, fitting crankshafts, crankshaft cylinders, and repairing hydraulic systems.
* Inspects, repairs, and adjusts steering clutches
* Must be able to satisfy class C requirements
* Have basic knowledge to troubleshoot and repair electrical, gas, and diesel customer-owned equipment.
* May be required to change out forks or attachments.
* May have to run pressure washers to clean equipment.
* May have to drive machines on public roadways.
* May have to run an occasional service call
* Must be able to maintain a safe, reasonably clean, and organized work environment.
* Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
